I am really struggling. I have absolutly no appetite nearly all of the hours Im awake. When I get the starving feeling, I cant even think about shakes, eggs, or yogurt, I get nauseous the minute I even try. I have not been moved up to soft foods so I cant even eat  tuna or chicken yet. Well, I've cheated and had 3 mini meatballs one night, I've had a bite of mac & cheese, and not much else in the past week. I'm getting tons of liquids, its just the actual food and protein... I have had not even one weird feeling after the couple bites of normal food. Im praying I can be started on atleast tuna and chicken at my next appt on the 12th. Also, I'm fearful that the scale is going to go up once I actually start getting the protein in. My god, I dont want to go from one eating disorder to another! Can anyone help ease my mind and share their experiences to show they weren't perfect but was able to be successful!?

Give it time :) It takes a while to get accustomed to the new you

At first I think most of us did not have an appetite and you will lose weight very quickly which is good!

Drink. Drink more. Drink water. Drink more.

Dehydration causes nausea.

Drink.

You are in the 'freak out stage' you don't need to be yelled at. You need to take a deep breath and remind yourself you just had surgery and you can do physical harm with food like meatballs at this stage . As the previous poster said, drink. I really liked room temp milk at your stage of this journey. Hugs

All I can do is drink. I'm over 64 ounces for the day. I do have a question though, if I do not have any negative effects from eating something as meatballs, am I ruining my pouch but don't know it?? You're right, Im freaking out lol

They cut all the nerves in your pouch/ stomach, so yes, you can do damage and not know it. I had my surgery on the same day as you, so we're surgery sisters!!  ?

I also feel nauseated when I think of food or smell it in any way. Blah!  I'm drinking tons as well.  I forced myself to drink a protein shake and up it came.  So I say, take your vitamins and do your best, that's all anyone can ask.

On another note, I seem to be able to tolerate sargento cheese, but the other kind makes me want to vomit.  So you might try a few different brands of things and see if that helps.

Anyway, good luck!  You can do it!

It does take time. Many can't stand the protein shakes. Given that you are able to get in hydration you could try some other protein drinks. GNC has some that are not shakes, more like flavored water. Unjury also has the un flavored protein you can add to water or crystal lite. Also a chicken protein broth. You might need to up your sodium with all the liquids. Losing sodium through too much liquid can cause problems like dizziness and even passing out.

This makes sense because I am fearful of not getting full nutrients. I am very dizzy when standing up from sitting down and very weak... I need to order this unjury everyone speaks of!

Being dizzy after standing is called orthostatic hypotension. Google it. You need MORE fluids. You may think you are getting enough, but you obviously aren't. More electrolytes will also help.

Don't advance your diet until you get the go ahead. Chicken could sit like a lead weight, and you'll feel even worse.
