Meal Plans-One Year Post Op
What is everyone eating about a year post op. How many meals do you eat a day and how many ounces per meal? I am 15 months post op RNY and I find myself craving bad foods and I am hungry in between meals. I am eating 5 to 6 ounces per meal 4 to 5 times a day. I am also very active. I am getting in about 1200 calories right now a day. I had RNY 1/5/2015. SW 261.3. CW 117lbs. Height is 5.375 inches.
1,200 calories sounds too low for someone who is "very active," even someone as petite as you, so it's little surprise you're hungry. If you're already eating 4-to-5 times per day you can experiment - very carefully, of course - with increasing the number of calories in one or two meals, particularly the ones that precede your hungry times.
You could swap in a regular version of a "light" ingredient or experiment with foods that are famous for their satiety like nuts or legumes.
My bariatric plan for 12-18 months is 1100-1300 calories, 100-130 gram carbs & 80 grams protein - PER DAY.
It breaks down to something like"
breakfast: 4 oz protein, 4 oz starch
lunch: 4 oz protein, 4 oz fruit
dinner: 4 oz protein, 4 oz vegetable
snack -protein, fresh veggies, fruit IF tolerated
Keep a food journal for 3 months - write down everything and count grams protein, grams carbs and ounces of fluid. You will become much more conscious of eating when you read labels and write it in your food journal. It makes it REAL and no guessing about if you can eat some extra!!
Best wishes,
Penny
