Frankly I just picked a number based off of the bmi chart. I picked one towards the high end of normal. My surgeon picked a much higher number so I met his goal, but I wanted to reach mine & see how I felt & if I needed to re adjust my goal. Eventually I wanted to get 1 of those fat to muscle etc test done to help me decide ultimately what to go for.

When they asked me I said "I don't know, 180?" because that's what a man my height would weigh and I was pretty muscular. Also that's what I weighed at age 10! I got there very easily and still had the big stomach, though much smaller, and revised my goal to 160...it turns out my frame is not that of a big muscular person, but rather a tall skinny one like all my cousins. I got to 167 from 267 in six months. My new goal is...not sure. I'm eight months pregnant lol! Before then I just wanted to fit into a size 12 pants so I wouldn't be stuck between misses and plus sizes any more. We shall see what happens after kiddo is born. I've put on 22 lbs and still think size 12 is completely reachable. I'm not in a hurry.

ETA: I have lost significant muscle mass and so will probably go through a phase of losing fat while trying to gain back some muscle after kiddo pops. So while number wise I'd love to hit 160, if I end up 170 but a 10 or 12 and able to easily carry around a toddler  I'll be fine with that.
