Can I really only expect to lose 60-80% of excess weight

14 months out. 105 pounds down, BMI 17 %.  You can lose 100% but most work at it.  Those first 10 months were easy.  It just fell off.  Now i get nervous if i go up two pounds.  Even though i know i have not eaten an extra 7000 calories.  I was given a great tool to help me lose weight and i also see a therapist to help me make sure that i am able to stay on the healthy path.  I love to exercise and did a lot of that before the weight loss but now it is fun.  There are amazing vets on here and any question you have someone can answer.  It is a tool but when you are willing to use the tool and work hard i think you can get to 100%.  I will be 50 this year and i do not think age has anything to do with can you get to 100 % of EWL.  Staying in the here and now will get you to the 100 %.  Log everything that goes into your mouth and move your body.

Good luck to you.

RNY best thing i ever did for myself.

There are lower expectations for band to bypass revision patients. Most just don't do as well on average as a first time bypasser. It's just harder because the restriction does not feel the same at all like it did with the band. In fact I don't feel much restriction at all. But I have done fabulous with losing 122 pounds in 9 months. Really have surprised my doctor :). I have about 8 pounds for my doctor's goal of 175. I have not exercised at all because of health issues but I am constantly cleaning and "doing it all" as a single mom and working full time. Remember it's 80 percent diet and 20% exercise. Life with the bypass is SOOOO much better than the band. You are going to be thrilled! Just remember we are prone to more complications because of scar tissue issues but don't let that scare you. Definitely do it! I had my band and revision done in all one step. Good luck :)
