The first picture is Tippy, a little Chihuahua, 6 years old that we recently adopted when her owner suddenly died. Tippy adores me and is glued to my side.
The second picture is Dolly, half ****er spaniel, part dachshund, part chihuahua. Age - one month shy of 15 years old. Dolly died the day after I got home from the hospital. I was so sad because she went in to the vet while I was in the hospital and died before I got a chance to see her again. She was the sweetest little doggie!
We also have two pet pigeons and a pet salamander!

I'm sorry about Dolly, that's so sad.

My first dog when I was a kid was named Tippy. He was a beagle. I wanted to name him Darwin, but no one got the joke.

So sorry about Dolly. No matter how old they are we are never ready for them to go. My last dog Henry was a mixed breed from the pound. He lived to be 18 but had such bad arthritis I finally had to put him down. He had been right by my side when I was sick and heavy and here when I lost my weight. He kept me company when my nest emptied as the boys left for school. He was not energetic enough to walk with me but would go downstairs with me and lay on a bed next to me when I exercised. At the end he couldn't make it down the steps and would sit at the top and whine til I carried him down and back up again when we were done. I kept asking the vet how I would know when it was time and one Thursday I came home from the food pantry and he was whimpering. I called the vet and took him down that afternoon. I fed him all his favorite treats and loved on him right til the end. They leave such a mark on our hearts and make us better people I think. Lily is totally different than Henry and is a goofy lovable clown who loves you once she gets to know you. Another dog doesn't take the hurt away but each one fills a special place in your heart. I love animal people especially ones with rescued dogs. Henry was a pound puppy and Lily came to us two years ago from a puppy mill. My dog before that was a rescued racing greyhound. So yes I'm a sucker!
