What's on your Saturday Menu, RNYers?

Hello Weekend Posters! I did well on my exam yesterday (yay!), but I get rewarded by having to work on a Saturday (boo!). Today I just have to go to a presentation for 1/2 day, which is really no big deal, but then I have a few things back to back right afterwards, making it a busy day instead of a relaxing day.

I was rushing yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to make my comments on "meat week". First, I realized that it's not terribly different than my regular plan--just fewer bites of veggies and no nuts. However, I did lose a pound, which is hard for me to do, now that I am below goal, so its nice to know that I can still kick-start things up when I need to, with just a small change. I am going to add back nuts right away, though, only because it it so much more travel friendly on days when I am not near a refrigerator. Today I am taking my first big step away from the critters and I'm planning to have some coconut milk "ice cream" when I meet a friend, later. I'm curious to see if it has any big effect on me after this week.

QOTD: Really it more like a pic of the day...I want to see pictures of your cute, cuddly, furry beasts! I saw a few this week in Lily's birthday posts and I want to see more! I am the "foster mom" to two spirited kitties that I took in when my parents were displaced after a house fire. They each have such distinct personalities and are so silly. The grey one is full of mischief and the black one is like my disapproving chaperone/parent. I have fallen so in love with both of them and I will be very sad when it is time to give them back. Not sure if my next pet should be a dog, though. It'd be nice to have a running partner!

Morning JB. Working on a weekend? There ought to be laws.

Your furry roomates are cute! The grey looks like a tiny thing.

Here is a pic of my last two dogs. Grace on the right was mom to Jake on the left. The non-furry one is my daughter. Boxers are the best dogs ever.

This was my food from yesterday. Only a couple more meals left from the ham. Finally!

Love those cute little faces! I sense a twinkle of mischief in Jake's eyes. Your non-furry beast is pretty cute, too :) Enjoy the ham! What's next?

Yeah, I'm a little burned out on ham, so when this is gone, I'll lay off until the secondary reserve ham in my fridge needs to be cooked.

I've been jonesing for a Quest Bar and some cheese. And I haven't had a burger or bacon for a while.

Remind me to give you my leftover Quest bars tomorrow. I hate them...

Boxers are the best! Lily is my first boxer and I had no idea what I was getting myself in to. She is nosy, mischievous and so loving! It's kind of like a permanent 3 year old, even though she's 7. My favorite stunt was when we took her to Atlanta with us and we had stopped at Talladega Speedway and museum. She stayed in the car. I forgot I had leftovers from the lunch we had just finished pushed in under the seat. I had brought them for her for later. She helped herself:pulled the sack out from under the seat, got the styrofoam container out of the bag,and since she has no opposable thumbs to push the little button thingies in,chewed a hole in the box to get to the food. She left a neat little pile of styrofoam and the empty container in my seat! She makes me laugh several times a day!

Alas, my Saturday AND Sunday meals are full liquids only; I'm having surgery on Monday.

I stocked up on Popsicles, cream soup, and Jello yesterday. This is not going to be easy but I'm in the home stretch.

Yesterday, my mother's friend, who had the same surgery with my surgeon, left me a "care package" on my doorstep. It was so sweet; there were a couple of books (one on protein shakes, one called Before and After), a bunch of Nectar protein drinks, Celebrate calcium chews, and a jug of Unjury chicken soup powder. It was a lovely surprise.

Two days to go...

Good luck Monday! Please update us when you are able, so we know how you're doing. It might be rocky for a little bit, depending how you tolerate discomfort, but before long you will be ecstatic that you did this!
