Post-op Diet Plan

This is crazy.. I had surgery on 03.23.  For the 2 weeks prior (starting 03.09) I could only have clear sf liquids and protein shakes.  

Weeks 1&2 - clear sf liquids and protein shakes only (so 1 month total from preop)

At 2 weeks I visit my surgeon / NUT and I will find out if I have another week of clear liquid only, or if I can start soft mushy foods.  Once I start - I'm on that for an entire month.

2 months out, I graduate up to soft meats (canned chicken, tuna), eggs, etc.

3 months out - smaller "more solid" foods chewed 30 times before swallowing.  Veggies are added in.  No fruits, no carbs.

I can tell from these boards I definitely have one of the most strict doctors - my diet has been crazy tough, and I haven't wavered at all.

But, I was 256 on 03.09 and on 03.31 I'm down to 227.. So 29lbs in 3 weeks with 106lbs to lose total (150 is goal weight - I'm 5'8'') means the weight is coming of faster than I ever thought possible.  But I am definitely starting to get "hungry" for something other than water and protein shakes.  I would kill for a bite of scrambled eggs right now - and that's 7 weeks away..

I had 3 weeks of pre-op, jus****er and 4x Optifast shakes per day, that was brutal. I think it played a big part in why I wasn't stomaching my shakes after surgery and had to move on to week 2 early.

Days 1-7 clear liquids only 

Days 8&9- full liquids including thinned cottage cheese and strained creamed soups

day 10- soft proteins: eggs, fish, soft cheeses, turkey and chicken, deli meats, beans. 

Month one add fruits without skins and well cooked vegetables

month 2 add raw veg

month 3 I can have coffee again

supplement for first couple months with 50 grams protein powder and always drink 64 oz water daily  3 (15-20 minute) meals a day no snacks for life

no quantities are given for how much I should be eating-- doc says eat Til satisfied. I have not eaten more than 1.5 oz at a time, currently 3 Wks out.  Stalled at same weight for 10 days already!

Age 35, 5'7", GW 180, RNY 3/9/16

hw 382 (BMI 59.8) 3/2015, initial consult 369 (57.8) 9/30/2015

sw 325 (50.9), cw 183.6 (28.75)
