Food issues Help!
I am 4 months post op and still having a lot of problems with food. It seems every time I eat something I get dizzy feeling sick to my stomach and kind of a sugar buzz and it takes several hours to go away. I have this with fruits, yogurt, anything with milk, any carbs, bread. I am running out of things to try. The only thing I have found works well is home made chicken soup and eggs. Since I am having such a problem I do not eat often enough. I am not able to drink the protein drinks without getting sick. I also have boughts of dry heaves that last several minutes for no reason at all.
Has anyone had any of these symptoms? What was your solution?
Been very frustrated with the lack of energy and feeling sick all the time.
I haven't had that, but my first step would be to call the surgeon and get checked out. Be sure there isn't a stricture or some kind of hernia or blockage, or I don't know what... but I'd be gettin' an appointment right away. Good luck!!

Ask your Dr. of course but sounds like you are dumping easily perhaps some adjustments to how/when you eat will help. Read this from: The ASMBS Textbook of Bariatric Surgery: Volume 2: Integrated Health
Hope whatever it is is easily resolved. Be sure you are always getting your water in. Dehydration can result in some of those same symptoms too.

When I eat those things I get sick, too. The good news is, you'll lose more weight quicker by avoiding them.
Avoid lactose, carbs, sugars, etc.
I mostly eat meat and nuts. I needed a protein shake I could tolerate for breakfast, and have found unjury mixed with unsweetened soy milk sits well with me.
You really have to find what works for you. Good luck!
Where is your dense protein? By four months out you should be eating chicken, fish, beef, tuna...whatever you find agrees with you.
Carbs and fruits should be at the end of the list of what you are eating. Protein first then veggies.
Experiment with the protein drinks, try ready made or don't mix with milk if that bothers you.
Are you on a PPI to reduce acid? That might help. Both in tolerating food, and with dry heaves.

most of us feel that way if we ate fruits, yogurt, anything with milk, any carbs, bread - SF greek yogurt would be OK. What are you eating to get your 60-80 gms of protein in???

I found that I was able to tolerate shrimp, scallops, fish, and chicken early on. I didn't introduce vegies or fruit for quite a while and only very little after eating the protein. O would recommend staying away from carbs and bread as much as possiblr. The focus should be on protein. Yogurt was a good option if my stomach wasn't feeling great, but be sure it is low sugar. Sugar counts can be very high in some. I like Oikos Triple Zero Greek yogurt in mixed berry. Good luck.
