I started my research on OH prior to my surgery in 2009. I have read many post good and bad. Have family and friends that have had different types of weight loss surgery.  Watched my daughter go through 3 and now cant eat.  She has a very small pouch and Dr said that she really has no stomach and cant have anymore next is feeding tube.  A daughter in law that was bleeding out from peptic ulcer on hospital walls and floors. Others have been doing great.

I had a stricture and ulcer. Put on medication ppi/acid reducers before my takedown. I have 3 years knowing that my kidneys are failing. I am in stage 4. One more stage means another life choices.   I have gerd and havent been able to keep much food down lost 75 lbs in the last few months. Hospital in aug all kind of test. Back in hospital sept for major open kidney surgery to remove cancer.

Presently the home nurse and therapist are gone and they have given up on me. No food no strength and barely walking with walker.  Fell last night and left leg is killing me now not able to walk. Most of my life is being alone. I cant say what for sure caused this chain of events. Think long and hard about changing your life.

I am sorry to hear you are still having issues. You mentioned your gastroenterologist, but what does your bariatric surgeon say? I would think a bariatric surgeon would know more about your altered insides than a general gastro doctor. Perhaps you should go somewhere like the Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinc for a second opinion. I know that's what I would do.

I hope you find some relief soon.

Hi Laura,

I appreciate your reply. As for contacting my bariatric doctor-once she did the takedown, she made it clear I was no longer a bariatric patient and should see gastro for future care.  I was played by her office even before takedown like a pingpong ball.  She would claim probs were gastric, not bariatric gastro would say I was bariatric.  This was part of my delayed treatment an the exacerbation of many situations.  I Did file a formal letter to my state's medical board who felt she didn't harm me blah blah blah.  I contacted three attorneys who were compassionate, but felt "she did her job".  They also saw this surgery as an elective which carries patient culpability.

My husband and I felt screwed by all professionals.

The gastro doc I see is somewhat of an advocate for me as her husband had an RNY in L A.  When she accepted a position her, shortly after arriving her hubby consulted with her.  They DID NOT like her, so he flew back to L A.  Too late for me NOT to use her.  She continued to keep me and my probs in her sights.  I trust her judgement.

This bariatric doc was head of a center of excellence.  I Did due diligence in months of pre surgical choice and excellence. She had no sanctions or publicly asscessible legal actions. It was here in OH that I found another woman who had post o.o issues with her and left her care.

I could go on, but there were MANY practitioners (including) the docs I was then working for.  Like I say...this has gone on for years.  I sit in hopes of connecting with other similar patients of hers...maybe a class action.  MANY say it's just how MY body reacted to RNY.  In part that's true, but the abandonment and exacerbation of probs even to this day that upsets me.

Again, thanks for replying and understanding that sometimes you just need to speak to others *****ally get the commitment to WLS and all the inherent good and bad possibilities.  I'm NOT sorry I had the surgery, just sorry I chose the wrong doc for me!

Thanks for replying and caring,

Celtie
