Awwwwwww

By the way, not because this was my decision but my husband is a LOTR fanatic!! I think I can recite all the lines of all the movies because those movies have been played over and over and over just shy of a million times in our house.  Nice reference!

Grim, is your high calorie intake on nothing but meat something that most of us can do since RNY? I see myself eating nothing but meat a majority of the time because those are just something I prefer at this point.

Everyone's maintenance calories will be different. My usual maintenance is 2400-2500. But, we all continue to malabsorb some percentage of fat permanently after RNY, so that can account for some of it.

I would guess that height and activity level contribute to how many calories are needed for maintenance too. I'm 5'3" and not really active other than walking, so 1200-1400 calories/day is maintenance for me.

Ok Grim, I don't know how you do it.  I brought 4.9 oz of ribeye for lunch.  I've been working on it for a while and feel I have ribeye up to my eyeballs.  How do you get so much meat in????

Gastronomic question, or obvious crude double entendre?

I'll go with gastronomic.  I can figure out the other on my own

I can eat less chicken than some other meats. Probably because it usually seems drier, but also because it is very lean.

Some of what I eat is really high in fat, and that portion of it is essentially a liquid. For example, yesterday 35 percent of my macros (122 gr) were fat, and fat was a little over 50 percent of my day's calories. RNYers malabsorb some fats for life, though there is a lot of disagreement about how much.

So, take 35% off of 8 ounces, you get 5.2 ounces. Which happens to be how much chicken I can eat.

I don't shy away from fat. I credit it with keeping me satiated, and regular -- I don't get constipated at all, and you can guess that I get almost no fiber. And fat is delicious. People turn up their nose at the suggestion, but it's true. Things like butter, cream, milk, and cheese are mostly fat. Half the calories in chocolate are from fat. When they make low fat versions of things, they often replace the fat with sugar.

Fat is our friend.
