Yesterday's meat and critter day went really well!  I had filet mignon and lobster for dinner at Outback.   I wish I would have taken a picture cause it was soo good!!  I had no trouble avoiding the bread, potato and bloomin' onion that my husband ate!

Today's menu is

B: 1 fried egg w/cheese and 1 strip of bacon

L: Leftover fajita chicken, cheese sticks

S: Prime Rib Jerky

D:  I don't know yet.  My kids are on spring break this week so we will probably go out.

Today is my first day on the AMAW (critter version) challenge. It sure is showing me that I had been justifying little nibbles of things.  Example:  Making lunches for the kids--have a chip.  That kind of thing.  I have written before about how grazing is a big problem for me.  The AMAW challenge is helping me see that, and I hope will help me curb it for a while.

I have done juice fasts before.  When I was MO, for a year-plus, I would do a monthly juice fast where for 3 days, all I ate was apple juice. If I started to get really weak to the point of light-headedness, I could eat apple.

I find the "meat fast" has soooooo much more variety!  And is so much more satisfying!  But a similar effect of increasing mindfulness about eating.

I have had a lot of trouble fighting of the melancholy the past couple of weeks.  Medical procedures--and more ahead--that take a little life out of me.  And, worried about my just-turned-18 son.  Such a good kid.  Sometimes he is sad, and that makes me sad too.

Here is my menu plan for today, which is already eaten down through lunch.

B:  Egg with leftover dices of ham and swiss cheese (yum)

L:  Chicken meatballs with some smoked gouda cheese (yum)

S:  If needed, shrimp in small amount of ****tail sauce (yum)

D:  Crockpot chicken thighs cooked in homemade pear chutney (yum)

Today I am drinking Moringa/green roobios tea and crio bru (yum)

yum yum yum yum yum = happy tum!

Great job Pokemom!!! Being mindful is so important!!! Its hard work but it will be worth it in the long run.  There is a lot of variety in meat, and yes its 1000% more satisfying!!  I am sorry you are feeling down and blue.  Do you think its to the point of needing to see a professional?  Do you have support from family, good friends, a best girlfiend?  Is there someone you can reach out to?  And not sure if its any consolation but I was a moody ***** at 18, not sure if its just teenage angst, you know your son best.  Maybe the Spring weather will help, I know I feel better when I see the sun.

But on a happy level, you are doing so awesome on meat week/critter!! Your menu looks amazing and I love that you put a (yum) after each meal, that means this is working for you!! So happy.

keep us posted please on your awesome menu planning and how you are doing.

Hi there,

I'm now on the pureed stage (thank goodness ). This is what I had to eat today:

B: 1 cup of decaf coffee and 1 Premier protein shake

L: 1 egg with 2 teaspoons of light mayo mashed

S: 1 Premier protein shake and 1 oz of lean ground beef chili with red bean mashed ( I hope this wasn't too much at one time. Please let me know )

D: 2 Oz of curry pork with sweet peas pureed and 1 oz of pureed cooked strawberries.

Protein : 95g Carbs: 37g Fat: 19g Calories: 677

Hi Jen,

Welcome to the menu thread. Congrats on moving on to the pureed stage, its exciting LOL LOL

I personally think your calories are a little high for two weeks post op. I personally would keep the veggies and fruit off the menu. Those are carbs you do not need.

For your menu above, I would keep the decaf coffee and premier protein

keep the one egg but reduce to 1 teaspoon of mayo

keep the second premier protein shake and the beef chili. As long as you are not eating and drinking at the same time its fine to keep them both. You have to drink the shake and then eat the food.  Or eat the food, wait 30-45 minutes then drink the shake, never ever at the same time (eating & drinking).

2oz of curry pork is fine, take the peas and strawberries out to much sugar and carbs for this early out.

Those are just my suggestions. I know at two weeks post op I may have been getting 300 calories in, it was protein shakes and soup with protein powder mixed in.

Good luck, you can do this. Its a lot at first and its hard, but keep posting your menu so we can help you tweak it.  You got this!

Thanks Daisydoo. Yes I had the shake first and then the egg. The peas wee just like 10. But I'll listen to what you suggested.  No veggies,  no fruit.

Thank you for your help!
