I stuck to my Meat & Critter menu EXACTLY yesterday, I'm so proud of myself!  It was the first time I've made out my menu first.  Usually I write down my food AFTER I've eaten it.  Here's my plan for today:

B:  1 egg

S:  1/2 cup cottage cheese

L:  1 oz ground chicken & 1 string cheese stick

S:  Protein shake

D:  2 oz. turkey breast

S:  Greek yogurt & 1 string cheese stick

Calories:  630  Protein:  85 gr  Carbs:  33 gr

Have a great day everyone!

~ Karen  :)

I don't usually pre-log my food. But if I've had a few weeks where I start to drift too far, I'll pre-log until I get back on track. It's always helped so far.

I pre log and make adjustments as needed.  It helps me to get my food for the day ready the night before.

Karen I am so thrilled for you!!! Sticking to your AMAW critter menu exactly is FANTASTIC!!!  See how great having a "plan" can make this easy and fun.  If you don't use MFP (MyFitnessPal) then you can use pen & paper and while watching TV on the commercials do up your menu plan. By the end of a TV show you should have it all done.  Being accountable and keeping track of all that I eat is a major part of my success and I know will b for you too.

Keep up the great work, I look forward to seeing your Day 2 menu posted!!!  You got this Karen!!

Good morning.  I survived day one of Meat Week.  I wasn't hungry at all, but towards the end of the day, I wasn't satisfied.  I don't eat a ton of veggies, but I usually have a bite or two of a veggie or salad at dinner, and I missed it.  Not from a fullness standpoint, but from a variety standpoint.  On to day 2.  My carbs are higher today than yesterday, because I really needed coffee this morning and I use milk.  I liked having my carbs in the single digits.  Oh well, there are 3 more days for me to get back on track.  I'm a bit frustrated this morning and know this is a good place for me to vent.  Because of my significant GERD, my surgeon has recommended I have a procedure called Stretta.  He submitted a pre-determination of coverage which my insurer denied, claiming it was not medically necessary (they claim I have other options) and experimental (although it's been around for 15+ years).  In the denial letter, they stated "there is no right to appeal this decision."  So, being the lawyer that I am, I filed a request for review with the Dept. of Insurance.  That request was denied yesterday because I haven't appealed to my carrier . . . which is nuts since the carrier's position is there's no right to appeal.  My level of acid rests at about 409% greater than normal and this decision put me about 60+ days out from having anything done to try and correct the problem.  My frustration level is through the roof and I'm glad I made a commitment to you all, because in the past, this was something that would send me over the edge, food wise.

Here's my meatcentric plan:

B: ground turkey (4.5oz); skinny vanilla latte

L: left over rib eye (5 oz)

S: chicken thigh meat (2.5 oz)

D: ham (5 oz)

Totals: Cal. 938: protein: 117g; Fat: 36g; carbs 34g (damnned latte) Back to single digits tomorrow!

I hope you get some good information back regarding the appeal so you can get some relief. Hang in there!

Thank you!  I'm grateful to have an amazing surgeon who is standing right next to me fighting the fight.  It would suck to have to do this 100% on my own.

Being a lawyer,I know you will hang in there and fight this. Having just gone through this with my Humira I know how much this sucks. I too had a doctor who just got in there and wouldn't give up. I got mine approved and you will too! Hang in there!
