my nutritionist told me i need to have more grains and starchy vegetables added to my meals, and that if i get too full from the meat, to wait til im not full and eat the vegetables. Basically telling me to work around what the surgery did for me, so that I can eat more. Makes sense.. lemme just go back in time and see how well that worked out for me before surgery.................................. yeah i trust the vets on this board more than i trust a nutritionist who doesnt really know much about RNY.
edited to add: It wasnt til I joined this board and got some amazing advice that I started losing consistent weight and feeling good about myself and my progress.

I know the thought of adding grains scared me and she even said diet bread with peanut butter. I still read what ppl eat and am working on it. I am taking some of her advice with a grain of salt. I did have 2 tablespoons of quinoa.... not very exciting. She said I could make it and freeze it.
Veggies and hummus......I hate hummus...... I dunno
Eesh. You can pack weight on pretty quick with peanut butter. It has a ton of calories, and it's practically a liquid.

I tried quinoa a couple and it was just weird! Sort of a gritty texture to me. I do do peanut butter for some healthy fat but I measure very carefully and add the calories into my totals for the day. I also do eat steel cut oats for breakfast but did not until I was in maintenance. I add protein powder and 1/2 T peanut butter and 1/2 c food keeps me full til noon. I have real issues with constipation even with fiber and a stool softener taken daily and the oats fill the bill. If my weight goes up or I start to crave other carbs I will lose them too. I am 31/2 years post op and do not eat bread, tortillas, pasta, rice, potatoes, corn or peas. Other than breakfast I eat protein and non starchy veggies like green beans, broccoli or cauliflower.
I moved to Reno (ugh) recently for work and none of my family lives here. My partner's grandmother does, so we're going to stop by there this afternoon and bring her some flowers and candy.
We spent last night at one of our favorite hotels, went out to dinner, played games for a while, went to breakfast this morning and came home.
B: scrambled egg with diced ham
L: shredded pork or leftover soup from last night's dinner
D: Grandma is making a roast and a ham, not sure which I'll be having. I may bring along a protein shake, sometimes I have trouble with really dense protein still (chicken breasts, I haven't tried roast) I don't think I'm chewing things well enough, they tend to make me throw up.
S: If chocolate cravings cravings kick in, I'll have a half of an iMetabolic protein shake.
I have had no Easter candy this year, and that's the first time that's ever happened. I don't want to even try it.
MMMMM..that Swordfish sounds delicious with all the trimmings.
Went to church this AM and then just staying home. After my big crazy wedding 'flying to phoenix' weekend last week, I have been happily doing the least amount possible this week. Happily sitting on my ass, Grim! I could have gone over one of my family's houses but I saw them all last weekend, or gone to a friend's house.... A couple I know who also had 'nothing to do' .... good friends of mine, I told them if they wanted to come over we could hang out and eat what I have.... but I am not going out.
Tomorrow I leave for DC, for my Tuesday follow-up appointment.
B: Premier Protein, tea
L: 2 eggs over easy, melted cheese
D: 2 small lamb chops, carrots
S: Hot premier Protein.
Dinner could change a little if my friends show up. Enjoying the relaxation.....

That was the best meal I have eaten in 8 months, at least. And the best part is that I will probably get to enjoy it at least 3 more times, because the serving was huge and I took more than 2/3 of it home :)
