Happy Easter!! Good luck staying strong ;-)
I spent my saturday with all the women in my family, we got together and did our nails with jamberries and gel polish, took all the children to an easter egg hunt, and then returned for lunch and chit chat. Lunch consisted of 3 boxes of mouth watering, heavenly smelling dominos pizza!! I am so happy that I have the signs and symptoms all day long to tell me that my body cannot handle that fatty-carb filled deliciousness 6 days out from my RNY because it made it so much easier to stay away! I could have NEVER done it pre-op. I am having a difficult time choking down the few liquid protein options I can have because I am so sick of them but Im finding it really easy to just do what I have to do because I see the scale moving already!!
So I wish all of you strength and happiness and encourage you to stay strong, dont cheat, and enjoy this journey to a new you all while avoiding the easter temptations!
You had a busy day for being six days out from RNY thinking I was barely home let alone doing anything. A friendly OH suggestion to get selfish with needs and wants is one of the best suggestions I offer that would have likely fallen upon deaf ears when I was a young wife and mother; looking back, it may have helped. Today, I request holidays to be activity-oriented and not food-oriented with marginal success. For example, there is no Easter meal, bought zero anything for anybody, and don't feel guilty. (take that back, found myself Elizabeth Arden's Untold parfum at TJMaxx for $7.99...score) Today, we are going to a church service and then a matinee of Zootopia. See what I mean about marginal success, but at least food temptations won't be there---not even theatre popcorn because the annoyance of popcorn stuck in my teeth and messing up applied lipstick means more now because, like you said, enjoying the journey and the new me.
Great advice! I will be sipping on broth today made with protein powder and watching a recorded episode of american idol while everyone eats in the dining room lol and because it was a crazy week due to my being down and out, we will be dying our easter eggs after dinner. A movie is a great idea as well! I hope you enjoy that too :-)
Happy Easter to you as well!
Its funny how you look at food differently on this side of the bench. Don't get me wrong, I would love to sink my teeth into one of those pizza slices or like today when we have our traditional Easter dinner all the goodies or even whats in my kid's baskets (which i put together).
I find with myself (Right now) its easier to say no to the desserts and carbby items and I will reach for the protein stuff. I told my husband I am bringing some protein shakes with me just in case.
Keep up the great work and good luck with your day as well.
