No!!  I am not an addict!!  I have had a bad back for 30 years.  They want to do surgery...But many of you know how back surgery can turn out...Very high chance the surgery makes it worse than better.  I also have heart disease.  So I hope (Lord willing) I die from other issues before needing surgery that could make the pain much worse in my back.  Yes, sometimes the doctor can and will put me on Hydrocodone, when something major happens and I'm in a bad situation...Not often.  But, being 9 years out, things happen.

Concerning ADA...I'm thinking back a few years ago when I worked as a security guard at a minor league baseball game.  There was "NO" outside food allowed in the facility...None!!  We let people put their food back in their cars, but technically food wasn't even allowed in the parking lot.  I'm checking bags for food and guns...things like that as people are entering the stadium.  A woman walks up to me and said "a few weeks ago I had gastric bypass...This is a protein shake".  I told her it was not allowed inside.  She put up a fuss...I had to stand by the rules...Even the stadium management would not budge.  She could have gone inside and bought some chicken wings, hot dog, and Pepsi...Maybe that would help if she became light headed!!  So yeah, there are times when the ADA can come into play with RNY...Because I saw it first hand.  Brian

That is not a reason for the ADA to be contacted.  The lady planned poorly and expected the stadium to make an exception to the rule.  She could of had her protein drink before she entered the stadium, purchased water inside to stay hydrated and packed a cooler to leave in the car.  Last I knew as long as you have your ticket stub you can leave a stadium and return as many times as one would like.

Now had she showed up in a wheelchair unable to walk and was told she couldn't bring the wheelchair in then the ADA could have been called.

One last one...Then I am ready to drop the subject.  ADA...With the same security company I was working at a low income (public) medical clinic.  More and more people are bringing in service animals.  As an outside contractor I have to be very careful not to discriminate against people with different needs for these animals...Usually I would let management make the final call on which was a true service animal. But, as you can guess, people would push the limit on which animals were service animals.  I have heard of people saying their pit bull is one...They downloaded the certification online (so it must be true)!!  We had one dog (germen shepherd) with their owner come in.  The dog was barking (and growling) at the other service animals.  Management asked them to leave...They made the judgement that it was "not" a service animal, and if necessary they would have to defend it in court.  Some tough calls in this area now.  Service animals and airline industry are really getting crazy...

Oh. My. God.

They aren't the only ones "really getting crazy...."

Look.  If you are looking for others, like-minded, who are concerned that giving tramadol a black box warning will limit your access, google or do some other search for those folks.  I guarantee you will find them.  Type in something like "patients concerned about ultram FDA classification" or something similar.  If you're worried about the folks that pay to have their stuff come up in the top of searches, page down a few times.  edited to insert:  an OH friend even gave me this handy link.  You can try it out with your questions and I promise you will end up with more data, studies and links than you know what to do with: let me google that for you  Enjoy  =)

I think you'd be doing yourself a favor if you spent some time learning to manipulate search engines to come up with the most "honest" results. Or whatever.  Believe it or not, you can even google "how to maximize search engine effectiveness" or really any question that comes to mind.

You  may find  you enjoy reading information and distilling it on your own, forming your own opinions on these things and being able to back them up with references.

And please stop referring to RnY as a disability.  You can read the actual Disability Act.  Get back to us if you find something that states Weight Loss Surgery disables recipients.  I'm sure you are aware that in most cases it's the absolute opposite.  Some of us would be happy to have our RnY be our only challenge and certainly wouldn't consider ourselves disabled any longer were that to be the case.
