What's your favorite food prep gadget for post-op?
i do not use anything. my dr had no pureed food stage - thank god.
you do not want much air added to prot shakes after surgery. i just eat the shakes as puddings or drink the pre-made cans of PURE PROTEIN shakes

I preferred the blender bottles for my shakes. The electric mixers make them way to foamy for my liking. I used a small black and decker kitchen chopper for my puree stage. I recommend a good kitchen scale and some small bowls and plates. I use those a lot.

I personally think buying any of these things is a big waste. The puree stage is so short and blending a protein shake makes a frothy mess. Smoothies are drinking calories -- there's been NOTHING I needed a blender for at all since surgery.

Agreed. If you can find one for five bucks at Goodwill or a garage sale, MAYBE get one, but be prepared to get rid of it once you're onto regular foods in a few weeks.

Blender bottles were perfect for me as far as making a protein shake. There was never anything else I needed a blender for. I would go so far as to warn against blenders. They liquify food, and drinking calories is a bad idea. Once you are cleared for a full diet, the more dense the food, the happier you'll be.
The gadget that I could ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY NOT DO WITHOUT is a kitchen scale. Weighing your portions and tracking them, I believe, is a key to success. My first scale started to go wonky after 3 years of being used multiple times per day. I went to the store and bought a new one within the hour. Best 14 bucks I ever spent.
The only other gadget I wouldn't be without is an activity tracker. I love my Fitbit.

Thanks Grim! I already bought a kitchen scale, just a cheap digital one from Wal-Mart. I have been looking at blender bottles, somewhere around here I thought I saw someone mention a type they liked, but I can't find that post anymore. Are they all pretty much the same? I've also been looking at the fitbits and actually talked about them with my dietician this morning. Can you set alarms on those things? I thought that might help to set an alarm to remind myself to stop drinking 30 mins before meal time, and then another when it's been 30 minutes after. I get crazy busy at work and get lost in what I'm doing, so I know I'll need reminders of when to stop and when to start again.
