I just want some taters!!!!!

I am on day 5 post op. How horrible would it be if I took a tiny spoon of mashed potatoes and added a bunch of skim mil****il it was liquid and then just had a taste or two? My program allows for apple sauce and oatmeal at this stage, so thoughts?
My thoughts is that's not applesauce or oatmeal. Stick with what's allowed, you have a lifetime ahead of you to eat potatoes, (though I still wouldn't advise it) and they won't need to be watered down to nothingness.
Its a craving/head hunger, IMO you have to learn to fight those urges. Right now you have the best reason.... You are healing.

Hi,
I would stick to whatever is on your meal plan. Cravings are terrible, but why sabotage yourself so soon? Potatoes are really high in carbohydrates and I assume they're mashed potatoes made with butter. Or, call your doctor, and see what he/she says.
Just my two cents. I don't ever want to have to do any of this again.

Ok, you will all be happy to hear I opted for the allowed yogurt instead.
This all happened after grocery shopping with my family. Those evil conglomerates tried to trick me into eating junky again! Thank you for the support though, that's exactly what I needed to hear.
PS. I still want potatoes. Not gonna eat em, but still want em.
It is not like you can never eat potatoes again... just not today.

Thank you for being so kind. After everything that we go through in this process, it is still nice to know someone else out there has some of the same issues. I know we all realize what we are SUPPOSED to do, but just the concept of having some kind of comfort (even if it is just a sweet potato) lifts my spirits. Thanks my fellow potato buddy. :D XOX

OH and PS, I meant comfort in the FUTURE. I know eating a bit of sweet potato now might do me in. LOL!
You will do just fine. The surgery was on our stomachs not our brains. Pre op I ate ALOT . Post op I get my 'fix' from the food channel , love the show chopped. I like recipe books. It's like I replaced lots of food with food porn. Down the road you will be able to eat a bigger variet of food. This isn't a diet , it's a whole new way of life. There isn't a day I don't remember I had surgery. Maintaining is very hard but so worth it. Please measure yourself. You will lose fast and then the pounds will stop for awhile . I learned to get excited because the loss of pounds meant I was losing inches. I wish you the best

"Food Porn". LOL!!! I absolutely love recipe books and the show Chopped. Have you seen Cut Throat Kitchen? Love that show. I'm looking through my list of foods I'll soon be able to eat real food and feeling a bit better. Potatoes are on there, well sweet potatoes are preferable, so YAY! Can't wait for week 8! All I know is I will NEVER do this again, so it's my one chance and I can't blow it. Much love blessings!!!
