Here is what someone sent me when I told them about my meat week
You hit the nail on the head JuniperBerry... I have lost so many loved ones to cancer and to see something that mentioned the big "C" scares us all.
All meat and nothing else for the rest of my life is not me, but to get to goal and stay their Protein, Protein, Protein, veggies and then carbs is our life. And I am fine with that. Its better than being dead!

I'm with Juniperberry, How can it be worse than being MO? Years ago I was a strict vegetarian for 5 years.... I was not in good health at all.... I was a 'junk' food vegetarian. What broke me down was I had a medical crisis and became severely anemic to the point of needing blood transfusions.... Right before I found out I was so anemic, I was craving meat and broke down and ate a hamburger.... My body was telling me I needed meat! Meat for me after that....

OK, call me a conspiracy theorist, but is this "study" a way for big pharma to push more genetically modified foods and processed junk into our system so they can. "Fix" it with medicine? I just have to ask that. The big pigs smell money and the scare tactics start. I say let us eat meat!

Morning Kathy,
I have to tell you that It makes my heart smile that we are discussing "A-MAW" with friends and family. That's awesome!!
I don't want to waste your time and get into a long post but I feel like non-WLS people just don't get "us", I can't tell you how many times people have questioned why I eat the way I do, such high protein (what about fruits and veggies I get asked all the time, you really don't eat bread or rice, well not now they say but you will add it back in right they say???) Drives me crazy. My point is this fun challenge is for a week, five days out of our lives to eat meat. What I was doing to my body pre WLS for years by eating extreme amounts of sugar I am pretty sure was 1000 times worse than eating meat for all my meals and snacks for a week. Deli meat actually is not usually in my rotation of food, due to my severe potato allergy almost all processed/deli meat has potato starch in it (yes go figure) so I can't eat it, its very few that don't have it. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, just not during meat week LOL LOL LOL LOL
Thanks for the post, glad you are still in for A-MAW!!!

I couldn't agree more. I'm so tired of people telling me that I'm hurting myself by not eating a salad. That my plate is backwards, since veggies and carbs should make up the majority of my meal . . . um, have you seen me? When I was eating like that I was 130lbs heavier and definitely not the picture of health. I changed my point of view, changed my food and look at me now. Thanks for your concern, everyone but I know the following: (1) 5 days of all meat (or all critter) won't kill me . . . hell, it won't even hurt me; (2) I'm not hurting my body by not eating a veggie or fruit at every meal (that's what supplements are for and I am diligent with my supplements; (3) I won't die if I never eat rice again.
Basically, to everyone who doesn't understand a WLS diet . . . keep your opinions to yourself . . .I'll eat my way, you eat yours. Thanks!
I love that anyone can find anything to write an article about. Bill Clinton is Paleo now- (high protein) went off veganism b/c he wasnt healthy enough without the animal protein.
and sending an article to that is just crappy.

As far as I know, there has never been any successful culture that has eaten a vegan diet birth to average age of death. However there are many examples of people who have lived on all-meat diets successfully for generations.
