You are so strong!  going to shakes is hard and SCARY!  I mean, I have a real issue with food, and when you were talking about going all shakes I was literally "shaking in my boots" pun intended, lol.  I don't know why I'm so afraid of it, but I think it's just too much change for me.  but I've really cut out the crap that was creeping into my diet, and my mindset is changing now.  The only carbs I'm having now is from veg and dairy.  It really makes a huge difference.  I wish I could go back to myself 2 months ago and make myself see this then.  I'd be so much better off right now and closer to goal.

it's funny.  I heard the vets say "cut the unnecessary carbs." and I always thought to myself it was impossible to eat so clean, that it wasn't a big deal to just have a bit.  Now I see the error of my ways.  That is not to say that I'll never have a treat again, or that I'll be perfect in my eating, but I do understand it better now.

Don't you just love those epiphany moments where everything clicks and just finally makes sense after months of struggle?  I feel free.

Sometimes we are just so "close" to the problem that we can't see it.  If that makes sense!  Or we get stuck in the "oh its JUST half a low carb wrap...no biggy".  But then do that twice a day, every day! lol  It adds up fast!

Way to go!  You could totally do a half or full marathon.  It just takes MONTHS to train for those :)

My three sis in laws have all done 1/2s and 2 have done the whole shebang.  They are trying to talk me into doing the 1/2 at the Detroit Marathon in October.  I don't think I'm ready to commit to that.  If I'm still feeling it at the end of this summer, I'll look at maybe doing the Ann Arbor one in a year.

I cannot overemphasize the need to hydrate.  During my training for my first 1/2 marathon I was great with hydration.  I had a bottle that straps to my hand and I would make sure I drink during my walk intervals (I trained by running 4 minutes/walking 1).  I would also have a shot blok for sustained energy every 2 miles.  During the race, that went out the window, I don't think I drank the whole bottle and didn't refill at all.  Shot blok schedule wasn't followed.  I paid the price.  I cramped up like crazy at the end of the race.  I had to climb a flight of stairs to get back to our hotel room and almost couldn't make it.  When I took my shoes off, my toes were curled like claws and it took me 4 hours (and drinking a few bottles of water) before I could pee.  I was talking to my surgeon afterwards (my 1 year follow up appt. was 2 days after the run) and he said I probably should have gone to the medical tent for an IV, I was so dehydrated.  So, long story short . . . drink, drink, drink!

Good for you on the 5K!  I used to run (can't anymore--chronic injury), but I loved loved loved the feeling of building up my distance over time.  It felt so awesome!  You must be feeling that too.

Also, I saw your Fage snack.  I adore Fage.  I know it adds some calories, but I look for the full fat version and use that.  I find it so much more satiating.  If I can't find the full fat version, I choose the 2%.

well, I am sitting at Starbucks, supposedly paying bills...yet here I am. SIGH

vanilla protein shake with coffee

1/2 scoop of quest on top of chai tea

tilapia

cauliflower au gratin

lite and fit banana cream with unsweetened coconut flakes(YUM)

Cals:740 Protein 95 Carbs 27 Fat 29

I increased my cals after my 1 year with my doctor but I am too afraid to weight because I think it is going to cause me not to lose...but in reality how can I not? I am walking like a crazed person.

QOTD: What am I NOT OCD about? When I was preop and meeting with the psychologist he paused, looked at me, and said "Did you know you have some serious OCD tendencies?"  I think he should quit his job and be a private detective!

There was a time I couldnt get out of bed except multiples of 5. Sucked if I nodded off on a 4 and then woke back up a few minutes later.

The big one is, DONT BITE OFF MY FOOD WITHOUT EXPLICIT CLEARANCE. DO not eat the first bite, do not bite off what would be considered a food "divet" do not, do not do not is my basic list.

Oh, I have also been known to face shelves at the grocery store and rearrange them for my shopping pleasure...but whatev :)

I told my surgeon that I felt like a failure because I could control just about everything else in my life except my weight. That was last June and now I feel like I actually can control my weight.

Good morning,

I'm jealous, I wi**** was my Friday.  I will be working Friday but will probably leave early, we usually close early the day before any holiday.  Small family owned company.

QOTD:  I am a bit OCD about making beds in the a.m., leaving no dishes in the sink or anywhere about.  House must be perfect before I leave in a.m.  Hubby asks "who's going to see it?  A burgular?"   I also have to have my money facing the same way and have to have an even dollar amount at the gas pump.  There's more, but I don't want to admit to too many quirks.

Time since surgery:   11 mos.

b:  1 egg, 1.2 fiber one english muffin

L:  roast beef w/annies sugar free bbq sauce

D: grilled chicken ceasar salad

S:  ?
