Two weeks until Opening Day! Last weekend I drove my mom and one of her friends to a shower on Saturday night, two blocks from McCoy Stadium, home of the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox. I sat and read for a few hours until they decided to call it a night. And all I could think of was, "Couldn't these ******** have had their frikken shower three weeks later? I could be sitting at a game right now, instead of reading a book in the parking lot of the Portuguese club." Idiots.

My routine now is usually very laid back. I get up about 6, work in my shop for an hour, then grab breakfast and read your daily missive.

For years, I worked at 2 am. It was really close by. I actually set my alarm for 1:45. Sometimes 1:50 if I was extra tired. I was living on 4 hours of sleep every night. I bounced up, ran out the door, and got to work at 2 minutes to 2.

But I never even remembered sleeping in those days. I was either passed out, or going full speed. So for a few years I would set my alarm 15 minutes earlier, and sit in my recliner in the living room and just be drowsy for 15 minutes. They were the best 15 minutes of my day, just half conscious and floating. It seems pretty weird now, but it was huge then.

As much as I love to sleep, I love that snooze feeling, too! That's why I set my alarm for 6:30, but don't get up to turn on the shower until 6:45!

I'm not a big baseball fan, but my brother for about 10 years would get free Paw Sox tickets from the place he worked at.  I remember a July 3rd game where I'm pretty sure it was Manny Ramirez who was there for an injury stint was up to bat and the pitcher kept busting his balls and the catcher behind him was egging him on.

After the last pitch which almost hit him, he cow kicked the catcher and bum rushed the pitcher.  It cleared the boxes and there was an all out brawl on the field.  Best baseball game ever.

Ok, ladygodiva, after that story I am back to being afraid of you again.  Hey, one of our chickens laid an egg the size of a marble...do you know what's up with that and don't suggest making her into soup just because she had a bad egg day.

Young or old chicken?  Has she been laying right along this year or just starting?  Has she molted yet?  It could be a few different things.  Just keep an eye out if she looks like she is straining.  Some hens will lay a real small egg and then get egg bound usually though that is not the case.

Some when they are just starting to either lay (young hen) or have molted will lay a marble egg or what some chicken folks a fart egg.

Only the mean roosters go to the soup pot or the meat birds, but that is what they are raised for.

Hey I didn't have anything to do with the fight, just thought it was wild how it all happened.  I do like to watch UFC and football.

Good morning,

QOTD, my alarm goes off at 5:00 and I get up at 5:15. (Of course hubby's alarm goes off at 3:50 a.m and sometimes I don't get back to sleep grrrrrrrr)  Need to snooze it once, then stretch for a few minutes before hauling my ass down to the kitchen to weigh myself.  I keep my scale in the kitchen because it gets moved constantly in the bathrooms, but if I keep it in the corner of the kitchen it does not get moved.  After cursing at the scale, I go back upstairs, wake my dd,  shower, dry hair, etc. put on my workout clothes, make breakfast for me and dd, make my lunch, drive dd to school, come home, walk for 20 minutes or so, back upstairs to get ready for work.  Leave at 7:35 at my desk at 8:00.

Of course in April that all changes a bit, my summer hours change after April vacation so I need to be here at 7:30.  I have told my dd she must start taking the bus (which picks up 12 feet from my driveway) at least twice a week so I can get a good workout in the morning, not just a 20 minute walk.  Wednesdays hubby has the day off so I get a good workout in first thing, then shower and get ready.

I like that cursing the scale is part of your morning routine. I think I should add that to mine as well.
