GI Bleed ?

Hi everybody it has been almost five years since my gastric bypass. I still follow almost every single rule that I can and I am a very active person. Sadly I have had G.I. bleeding multiple times. I had two episodes where stomach ulcers were found and a revision was completed. About two years ago I had anorher episode and yet again a stomach ulcer was found. My doctor had placed me on medicine to resolve the ulcer. Well I just spent six days in the hospital yet again. This time there's no ulcer that was found. An EDG and colonoscopy were completed with nothing suspicious found. Every time this is happened there has been no warning or onset of any kind that would lead me to think there was an ulcer. I went to bed woke up in the middle of the night felt like I had the flu got up to go to the bathroom and passed out completely. I lost blood rectally and it was bright red. It has been almost 2 years since any issue and now a problem with no answers. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Thank you for any comments in advance ! I had a Roux-EN-Y and am down about 125 pounds! I am a big runner so I love to be accord. I am too young and have two small children that need me to be healthy!

red blood indicate close to the exit issue - like colon, rectum, etc. hemorrhoids may be an issue.

I did not have them before RNY and i have them now...  I know that low iron, low copper, Vit K, etc- may contribute to weak blood vessels and that can contribute to hemorrhoids to form..

You probably would need colonoscopy.. and for sure a detailed blood work...

Thank you! I never thought of the possibility of food allergies. They did a Doppler to check the vessels and they were all normal and so was the colonoscopy. So I guess we just wait for our next step

I am so sorry to hear of your trouble.

i do have a question for rny veterans.... The bariatric surgeon and I had a discussion when trying to decide the surgery best for me, I was leaning toward the sleeve and he asked me why. I told him I was afraid of ulceration and gastric bleeds, and worried that rny came with more complications... He said " you will NOT get an ulcer if you never take ibuprofen "

that statement made me lose a little trust that he was looking out for my best interest and left me feeling like he was steering me to do the rny bc that may be HIS comfort zone.

so ...... Is it true that you will NOT get an ulcer if you never take an ibuprofen ?

In my experience, I have NEBER taken any medication I was told not to. My doctors gives you a whole packet and you go yearly for check ups. I still have a small pouch almost 5 years later and do what I did 6 months out. I drink ALOT of water and already was not even a spicy food person so I stay away from those foods. I make sure any other Doctors knows I had the surgery and to make sure any medication they prescribe is allowed!! And honestly these episodes have been so sudden with no warning!! There is a chance after having the surgery someone does become prone to ulcers, but I believe that can be linked to either RNY and the Sleeve?! I am by the book which makes all this so frustrating ?
