What's On Your Monday Menu, RNYers?
So sorry about your son. Ugh. My son also gets herpes sores, he"s grown now and doesn"t get it nearly as often. One time he had a horrible flare up on vacation with my ex husband. When I brought him to doc when he got back, Doc said stress and also getting too much sun can trigger (he wasn"t happy about being on this trip for various reasons).... after that always made sure he had clear zinc oxide lip balm on his lips in summer.
I don"t know if you use it for yourself, but we also found Abreva very helpful. Just have to use at first feeling of a sore coming on...then it works the best.

I'll have to watch him as he gets older. My oldest will get them occasionally, but didn't get them at 2 years old. By the time i realized what was happening his lips were already blistered. If he could communicate with me and let me know how he's feeling, I'd hopefully be able to catch it earlier. It's horrible when they are so little and don't have good communication skills. He probably just got a bug and it set off the cold sores. I'll be on the look out for one for me in the future. Surprising that with all my stress lately, I haven't gotten one.
Well I am glad his sores aren't as bad as last year. Having a sick little one is ALWAYS so hard! Mother's who work outside the home feel guilty about not being there for their sick littles, and work at home mom's feel guilty about not making money to help etc
Sooooooo MOMMY GUILT FOR EVERYONE!!! ugh

I remember when my daughter (now 22) came down with the cold sore virus, when she was about 2. This girl has survived! She still gets cold sores with stress and sunburn. She was a lifeguard for several summers, so that was a challenge.
That week she came down with the virus was truly awful. Just awful. Sores all over her mouth--no eating and drinking. And her personality is to fight fight fight, so she would fight any medicines we tried to give her.
Anyhow, you have my empathy for your little boy. And for you as his caretaker.
Also, those rosacea sores you are dealing with. So sorry. Also awful.
I looked up Kit Harrington. Yes, he is beautiful.

Hope your little man feels better soon.
Good morning! My weekend was not the best. There was no deep couch sitting for me. I was in the office both Saturday and Sunday. I practice insurance law, and I was working on whether there is coverage for claims against a slumlord. I spent all weekend looking at Health Dept. inspection reports and photos of these apartments that are ****roach/bedbug infested. So, I spent the entire weekend feeling like I needed a hot, hot shower. Yuck. The rest was ok. I have a 1/2 marathon coming up on 4/9 (or something like that) so I got in two runs a 7 mile and a 5 mile. I also judge first year oral arguments at the Law School every year and it's tonight, so I spent some time going over the problem the students were issued and the cases they were assigned. It's the highlight of my year. Every year there's some snot nosed first year law student who thinks s/he is god's gift to the legal profession. They never are, and it's so much fun putting them in their place. Can't wait! My plan is sort of up in the air . . . they always provide food for the judges, sometimes it's a nice dinner like chicken, veggies, etc. Sometimes it's sandwiches. So, I'll have to play dinner by ear. I have a contingency plan as I roasted a turkey breast last night. Worse case scenario, I have turkey and veggies when I get home.
Here's the plan:
B: Ground turkey and cheese
L: Tuna, 1/2 tbs mayo, squirt of mustard over kale salad
D: ? but I'm gonna count the turkey and broccoli
S: Light and Fit, Skinny Vanilla latte later in the afternoon (I'm going to need the caffeine to get through 4 rounds of arguments)
Totals to be added later!
Eww on the working all weekend. I clerked for a personal injury firm in Law School and had to look at accident photos and medical records all day. It was gross and it didn't help I was uber-prego at the time.
Way to get your runs in! That is impressive given your weekend schedule.
Ah, the first year who has watched too much Law and Order. I hated all the people who came into law school "knowing" they wanted to be litigators. EWWW!! Gag me with a spoon.
