I'm sure you can do it.  I'm 5 weeks post op, I don't know if I could have lost 40 pre-op on my own so I have a lot of admiration for you.

Just keep on doing the thing, think of it this way, 8 lbs is almost a quarter of what you need to lose.

Good luck!

welcome! This site is wonderful. I am 4 weeks RNY post op and am feeling great. The hard work is worth it! Try and stay away from sugar and carbs and at about 800 cal. And exercise, even if you do it from a chair.. the pounds will melt off! Good luck! Don't give up before the miracle!!!

Welcome to the site. I am pre- surgery also but do not have a specific amount of weight I need to lose before surgery. Just waiting on a couple of cardio tests. I can't imagine having to lose 40 pounds to qualify for surgery, but it sounds like your mindset is right now and your making progress. This site is terrific and you will receive a lot of support on here throughout your journey.

My heart goes out to you. Seriously this just fries my bacon (forgive the pun) If we could lose weight on our own we would not need WLS. I had surgery years ago when they didn't require this. I did just fine thank you. But as Judge Judy says their playpen you have to play by their rules.  It's hard but you CAN DO IT

For ready to drink protein shakes (it can work as meal replacement) I would recommend Premier Protein. For me, the chocolate and vanilla taste good. I am not a fan of the strawberries and cream but to each his own.

Congratulations on the weight loss so far. Move, and watch your calorie intake at this point and you will hit 40lbs in no time. I lost nearly 100 Lbs on my own before the surgery. IF i can do, it I'm sure you could lose it as well! Make sure you find an exercise that you LOVE not just endure.
