What's on your Saturday menu, RNYers?

Yay, we made it to the weekend! I was all ready to tackle this day, but I woke up feeling exceptionally dizzy today. Dizziness is not new for me--it's happened a lot post op. My NUT says it is either because I waited too long between meals, haven't had enough carbs, or I'm experiencing side effects from anemia. Today was different, though. My vision actually narrowed and I swooned. Luckily I caught myself and didn't drop! But needless to say, I think I am going to cancel my plans today and take it easy. I have lots of work to catch up on after vacation, and...oh yeah, I haven't even started my taxes! So I guess it's probably good to have a forced day at home.
I haven't decided if I am taking on the "Meat Challenge", yet. I guess I will do it today, but if I still feel dizzy I might add in a banana and see if it helps. We can still have protein shakes, right?

Morning JB. I'm sorry you're dizzy. I had a bunch of dizzy spells my first year, and it was related to low blood pressure. I passed out a couple of times from it, but after about year one, and getting a couple of bad veins fixed, it's disappeared. Could low BP be contributing to your dizziness? Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. It will help.
I was up reading until 3 this morning. I got the 2015 edition of American Furniture in the mail yesterday, which was a little like Christmas for me. "Sulfur-Inlaid Furniture: New Insights on Materials and Techniques" is utterly spellbinding. I'm going to save an article or two for later though.
Protein shakes ingredients come from critters, so they're allowed.

Yeah, low BP is the result of waiting too long between meals, I guess. Was I supposed to eat in the middle of the night, though? I promise that I could not be more hydrated (*insert Chandler Bing voice*).
Have fun reading and re-reading today!
I had two different docs tell me to have more sodium and electrolytes as well.

I had lots of dizziness the first year too and most of the time it was from not enough liquids, especially in the morning on waking. I drink all day but not so much when I'm sleeping. Now I keep a bottle of water by my bed and if I wake I get a good drink. I still sometimes will wake dizzy but it goes away quickly. Housework is the plan for today. I hate it! Exercise will be 3.2 miles at the park about 10 and 30 minutes on the bike later. We will probably stroll around the neighborhood after supper too. Here's the food plan B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L going to a local church for corned beef and cabbage I can't do corned beef so I will eat some deli meat before I go and have cabbage there D 31/2 oz tbone 1/2 c green beans S Greek yogurt. Have a fun day and make smart choices everyone!
Hey all repodting to you from sunny AZ. Whete I woke up at 5 Am because I am on 8am NY time. So do I go with Ny Time or try to go back to sleep. Only here 2 days.
Long day traveling so food was interestimg. My "real' food once I got here for lunch and dinner were appetizers so evev though it was food I'm not usually eating, at least quantity wise it wasn't over the top. There was a warm fresh pita involved on the beef schwarma and hummus app. It was amazing. Moral of the story is if you are going to break down and have a carb make sure it is goid, really good.
As I am writing that and reflecting on my own moral, lest you think I am too perfect, there was the late night debacle in the room I almost allowed myself to forget about. My sister gave us one of those "thanks for coming to town" gift bags in the hotel room. It may have involved kettle cooked potato chips, dove chocolate, and a puece of a choc. Chip cookie. The rest of the cookie and the bag are now in trash.
Really don"t know what the day is bringing. I did bring protein powder and shaker cup.
Rehearsal dinner menu: pizza cut up as appetizers, dinner: cesear or reg salad, several types of pasta, meatballs and chicken parm.
I will put salad, meatballs and chicken on my plate. I will start with meatballs. I am saying "No!" To pizza I will be strong.

Uhmmm....well to put it mildly I had plenty of pain yesterday. I didn't bring any pain killers just flexeril and Tylenol....which at this point has been doing the trick. On the plane I had the neck pillow I brought under the seat belt against my abdomen.
Doc had said "Chivalry is not dead, get someone to put your bag into the overhead." Problem was by the time I got to that point, I had already carried it down the stairs of my house, lifted it in and out of my car, lifted it onto the security machine thing.... and being a stubborn mule, I went to go lift it into the overhead, and could only get it about a foot off the ground- the man behind me did grab it and do it for me.
Luckily besides the industrial knickers they gave me I also brought the binder that is like a back binder that just wraps around you with giant velcro. That is better sometimes because you can pull it as tight as you want and get more support. So I wore it the rest of the day yesterday, Will wear it today until I have to put fancier duds on....going to keep up on flexerall and tylenol, and just have to caffeinate so I am not falling asleep in my soup.

This is true! I thought I wanted plastic surgery until I saw immediately post op pictures of some folks. Then I wanted to be sick! I could never do it. I passed out looking at Mt foot right after foot surgery to change my dressing. And the funny thing is I used to work as a respiratory therapist in a hospital til my RA got bad. I could do anything to anyone else but pass out if I start bleeding! Go figure!
