Sleeve to Bypasss on Tuesday 29
Hello everyone! I am new in this chat and I decided to get in becauseI am about to have a new surgery, now from Sleeve to Bypass, and I will definately need support from people with obesity problems as me. English is NOT my first launguage so sorry for any mistakes.
In April 2013 I had a Sleeve at Monterrey, Mexico and everything went excellent!! Dr Rumbaut is an excellent Dr and I started loosing weight very fast and felt well. While time was passing by, I felt less and less restriction from my "tiny" stomach and I started re gaining weight. On the first stage I lost 23 kilos (no idea in pounds, and was in 62 kgs wearing size 8); I didnt reach my ideal weight but I was ok. Lately I have gained about 13 kilos and I do NOT intend to re gain all the rest or more to stop this.
The problem now is that I do not have a high IMC (BMI?) and many surgeons will expect to see me weighting much more, as I did before, to think about a Bypass convertion.
I spoke again to Dr Rumbaut (since I dont live in Monterrey) and he told me that sometimes the stomach in a sleeve stretches and my option is to change the sleeve into a Bypass so my stomach will be much smaller than the first time PLUS the malabsortion.
I will be travelling to Monterrey on Monday 28, having all my pre op studies done there and after that speaking with Dr Rumbaut at his office (which is a high standard and beautiful one). Then on Tuesday I'll have my surgery done (hopefully) and I will be at the hospital for two nights. Then on thursday back to the hotel to recover and till Monday I will be flying back home.
I am nervous for passing all this again and I am wondering if THERES SOMEONE WHO HAS HAD SLEEVE TURNED INTO BYPASS AND HOW ARE THEY DOING NOW... IF IT IS EASIER TO KEEP THE STOMACH RESTRICTION WITH THE BYPASS AVOIDING REGAINING WEIGHT??
Thank you very much!!!

Any surgery you have can be "eaten around". If you do not change the relationship you have with food, no surgery in the world will help you.
You must follow the rules they give you forever. No drinking with meals, eat protein at every meal and then veggies if you have room, no starchy foods (like potatoes, rice, pasta, crackers, cakes, cookies, etc), limit fruit intake to one small serving daily, drink at least 64 ounces of water daily, plan you meals and measure your portions out and then STOP EATING. Eating until you feel restriction is a recipe for regain. We should never eat until we feel full. We need to relearn what a proper portion looks like and the only way to do that is to measure every bite.
The surgery was never meant to do all the work. You have to change your lifestyle, and it has to be for the rest of your life.
Wishing you the best of luck!
Hello! I am very happy with my new bypass. I did my revision weighting around 74 kgs that might sound low weight for a surgery like this but I was gaining and gaining again with the sleeve, so I decided to stop it before reaching the initial weight before the first surgery.
Now, 3 months after, I am weighting 59 kgs. It has been tough and I have really been very conscious of what I am eating in order to avoid carbs.
My ideal weight from the doctor's opinion is around 53 kgs but I think with 55 kgs I am excellent.
In what part of Mex are you going to have your surgery?
