What's on Your (photo) Friday Menu, RNYers?
Oh good! I'm outta town Thursday/Friday next week and that would have added a whole 'nother level to the challenge!
Every photo Friday, I swear to learn how to post photos. When that day comes, watch out. Anyway, I missed Scotch eggs by 10 minutes says the bartender at the local Irish pub I went to yesterday. I stayed out dancing until after midnight sticking to nothing but a diet Coke with refills as long as I was a driver (they didn't have to know I was driving home ---- alone). Todays' menu includes a salad kit with cut-up strawberries on top. Wedding song: "I Wish you Peace," by the Eagles. We've been married almost 35 years--he stays on the farm with his cows and chickens and I wonder like a cat--a faithful cat that eventually goes back home.
Thanks. A few times, I could drag him away from the farm, but succumbed to his request, "you can do whatever you want & go where ever you want as long as I can stay home." He is perfectly happy to sit his skinny behind in front of the TV with a big bowl of ice cream. He would prefer to go back in time when I was sitting next to him but we both know all too well that didn't work. I used to be involved with church when our kids were young; church family holds special memories but I find the dancing crowd less judgmental and flawed as h*ll just like me. It's all good.
Good morning!
Experienced all the weather there is on my long Wednesday drive: thunderstorms, hail, wind gusts, fog and - happily - some late day sunshine. When the sun was shining, the scenery was fabulous - dramatically lit foreground against a purple-black stormy sky. Took the scenic route out, and it was really worth the extra time; the trip home was all by freeway, which was fine because it was dark and rainy. These day trips are a great way to explore my new province.
Now that coffee is included, I am in for the all-meat/animal products challenge. I'll have to check the grocery flyers for deals on meat!
Food:
B: roast pork tenderloin
L: chicken and string cheese
D: shrimp and zucchini
S1: small banana; S2: frozen mixed berries
Cal -870, protein-87, fibre-33
Good Morning everyone.
I haven't been on OH since Friday, and I've eaten terribly all week. I suspect a correlation there. Shake it off, move on. I'm intrigued by this all meat week some are referencing. I'll have to go back and read the posts from earlier this week.
This week has had a lot of highs and lows. The high point of my week was a meeting with the First Lady. A pic of me in the White House (in a bathroom, lol) is my entry for the Photo Friday this week.
The low point was last Friday -- on of my coworkers passed away from complications of weight loss surgery. Her funeral is today. We weren't close, but she came to me to talk about it right before she went in. I'm struck by this feeling of "it could have been me" and I'm reminding myself how lucky I am to have done this drastic thing to myself, and be able to reap the benefits. I also can't help but think that now everyone who knows anyone who knew her will now have another my friend's-cousin's-sister's-neighbor story to use to discourage people from this path. If I hear one more person say "all she wanted to do was lose a few pounds" I'm going to scream. Thank you for letting me vent.
QOTD: Our first dance was to Adele's cover of the Cure's Lovesong. The more interesting story, however, is the music we had them play as we left the "chapel" -- we found a string quartet cover of "Another one bites the dust." The guests who noticed found it hilarious.
Time since surgery: 13 years

Awesome that you got to meet the First Lady! You look incredible in that dress!
I am so sorry about your coworker. I can imagine that it will bring up some issues, and if she had gone in for a tonsillectomy and died, no one would be saying "don't get your tonsils out, it's not worth it." it's such a shame when people point fingers at WLS when it's really just surgery in general. I am glad you're back. I've had a rough go early this week with food, so I know how it goes. Jump back in and get back to it!
That's so sad about your co-worker. And I would have TOTALLY taken a selfie in a WH bathroom, too!
