Is there a better gift you could give yourself at a year? WOW!

I did a warrior dash a while back.  I was big (this was years before my WLS) but in pretty good shape at the time.  It was intimidating,  but I had a BLAST!  I was able to do more obstacles than I thought i would,  but there were about 5 that I tried but failed.  They were all the ones that required a ton of upper body strength (climbing wall you mentioned was one) but the nice thing is,  they have people to help and instruct you at each obstacle,  and it's not shameful if you have to go around it and just skip it.  You won't be the only one and no one makes a big deal about it.  It was a great day!

I LOVE 5ks with a theme! They are so much fun! Even if you walk,  it's just a neat vibe at those things.  I've done the Santa stampede,  color run,  foam run,  warrior dash, and a few others.  None since surgery (I'm very limited on my free time these days) but they were all so much fun.  I did all but 1 of them by myself,  and there's not a better place to people watch!

Enjoy the experiences and don't stress,  just do what you can and be proud of yourself for not being at home on the couch!

Thank you for this post.  I was really scared about doing it, even though I've lost a lot of weight, I'm not really feeling strong right now.  You have made me feel better about it, and I am going to be doing some weight training to see if I can get stronger beforehand.

that's crazy! I'm scared about doing a 5k, lol.  I've never been athletic, even when I was thin, so it's a bit intimidating.  Thanks for the encouragement.
