Anemic and dehydrated?
18 days out from surgery, back to work this week and still on liquid diet until Monday. Then I can start pureed foods. I'm so tired and worn out. I get plenty of sleep but still am dragging. Does any one have any tips or tricks to get back to where I should be?

You need to drink much, much more. You'll feel like crap until you do.
64 ounces is the number most often knocked about. 100 ounces would be better.

The tomato juice is on my list of approved beverages by my surgeon. At least it had a different texture than water. Lol
I know that I need to get at least 64 ounces but I'm struggling and need tips on how everyone else accomplished it in the beginning. The knowledge is there but I'm still struggling!

Dehydration is one of the 2 major reasons for readmittance post weight loss surgery... sip every chance you get. Aim for better than the day before... SF popsicles if you are able.
It takes awhile for you to regain energy... then suddenly you'll want to climb mountains :)
Took me 7 weeks to feel human/not like a patient... almost 4 months to feel awesome... YMMV.
Lack of nutrients... not a whole lot of fuel right now.
But tha****er will help, fresh air too.
It's still a hard time for me too. However, I've been able to add in pureed foods this week and it is helping me feel better. Not necessarily much more energy, but just better. I just keep a water bottle attached to me and sip almost constantly. I can get a good 2-3 swallows in each time. Have you added flavors to your water? I'm using Crystal Light and even some S/F Tang and Kool Aid Cherry. Having a variety has helped too.

The tired feeling took the better part of 3mths for me to get over. Keep in mind you body has been through sooo much, and has a lot more still to come. Hydration, activity, tons of rest and keeping the protein as high as you can are my best suggestions. You might even find getting back to your old work routine Monday might improve your overall mood and energy level. Take Good Care of Yourself !!!

If it's that difficult to get your fluids in, it's likely that you're already dehydrated. I had to go to the ER in my 2nd month post op because I fell behind on my fluids and once you get to a certain point, you can't really come back on your own. Drinking anything made me nauseated! And forget food, there was no way I could eat anything. I went in and it turns out I was so dehydrated it took them about an hour and 5 different people trying to get an IV in me and to take blood to run labs.
If drinking doesn't make you sick at all, force yourself to drink about 80 ounces a day and see if that doesn't help. If you're truly doing your best at 30 ounces a day, I suggest going and getting some fluids in an IV. I felt better immediately and was able to drink much more daily after that.
Good luck!
