And so it has begun.....
Weight has slowly started creeping up. I am 2 1/2 years out and what has worked for the past year and a half is no longer.
I say I have only gained 8 lbs, but it is troubling as I am doing nothing different...except....I stopped measuring my food.
I will be back to measuring and the rest of the "basics" immediately. I have also reduced my caloric intake by 200kcals/day.
Any advice from those who have experienced the dreaded 2-3 year weight gain will be appreciated.
Grim had given advice to someone re: logging food the day before and sticking to that plan. I'm going to take that advice to heart and put it into practice.
Thanks all!!!
I'm about 4 years out and have had no regain. I will not let myself as I measure and track every bite in my mouth and weigh every morning. I know if I did not measure I would eat too much. I also exercise every day because it makes me feel stronger and healthier. The before picture on my frig reminds me of where I came from and makes the hard choices a lot easier. I will not go back to that miserable obese person!
I'm about 3-1/2 years out, and have avoided regain ONLY because I never stopped measuring and logging. 1290 consecutive days so far.
You could try what a lot of successful long time vets do. They have a weight range, usually about 5 pounds. When they hit the top end of that range, they start weighing and logging, cutting back on calories until they get back to the bottom of the range.
You could always do it without weighing your food and logging, but for me, it's much harder. It's like using a credit card every day, sending a payment once a month, and never seeing a statement. Just guessing at what you owe. It might work. Or they might come and repossess all your stuff.
You've done great so far. 8 pounds is a little frantic, considering where we came from. But much better than 80. You have a great attitude. You'll be fine.

First of all.........Give yourself a pat on the back for getting on this right away at 8lbs!!!! I know that one day I may very well be dealing with this same issue, and it scares me a lot. Its right up there on all of our lists of terrible dreaded fears I'm sure.
Its quite clear you already have THE AWARENESS, KNOW-HOW, DESIRE, SUPPORT and DETERMINATION.........so I already know you've got this well under control !!!
Never stop believing in YOU!!!!
