Having trouble keeping my calories down and not being hungry. Pureed Stage
Hi! I am in the pureed stage. I'm having a hard time keeping my calories low enough and not feeling hungry all the time. I'm eating lots of protein - eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, split peas, refried beans, and protein shakes, of course. (Not all of that in one day!) My stomach is growling and grumbling all the time. Maybe it's just head hunger, I don't know. But at the end of the day when I add up my calories, it often comes to 1,000 calories or more and I know that's too many. Any suggestions? (I know, I should be adding up my calories as I go and not at the end of the day).
Hi Supershopper,
My dietician has me eating 3 meals a day with 2 snacks of a protein drink in between. However I've been spreading out the "meals" and eating the protein first and waiting to eat the fruit or vegetable later. I've been staying true to her portion sizes. My protein drink is 150 calories plus 90 calories from the skim milk I use to mix it with, so it's 240 calories total. I often eat less than the 3 meals a day and still seem to go over on calories. I track my food (grams of protein and calories) on my computer.

I make mine with ice cubes and ice water and give it a whizz in the blender. Tastes way better nice and cold. Good luck.
I found that the usual chocolate, vanilla, etc were pretty gross mixed with water, and begged for milk. Syntrax Nectar makes some that go great with water, and save a lot of calories. I was fond of the Roadside Lemonade and Fruit Punch. I think they have coffee and tea flavors too.

You can log your food the night before. Figure out what you'll eat, and then stick to the script the next day.
