Skin Rashes ?

So, this morning as I was dressing I noticed raw area on my stomach. I thought it was odd- since I never had skin rash issues/'raw' patches even at my heaviest weight (AKA "plumpest rolls" LOL). I know people say skin rashes can become a nuisance with excess skin, but I assumed it was a problem before weight loss that was just made worse; not a totally new issue.

So whats tens to be the case more so??-- rashes etc when your obese that are just continued or aggravated by weight loss, or is developing the rashes solely as a result of the weight loss possible?

I have excess skin (abdomen, arms and a little on my thighs), but it not as horribly droopy as it could be. I don't find need for powders etc to keep area dry, I have no excess sweating etc. Nothing about my skin is sending me running to a plastic surgeon (yet).. so I again i was surprised about finding this raw area.

It could not be related to your weight loss. It could be food allergies, environmental allergies? I'm allergic to my fitbit band and break out in rashes.

Also look at any soaps whether body or clothes washing soaps you have changed recently. Or a new cream you maybe using. See what besides WLS has changed recently

When your skin is filled with fat it doesn't really "hang" or move like excess skin after fat loss.  After weight loss there is more surface area for the skin to rub on and, since it's loose and floppy, it will rub in larger areas.  A lot of us develop yeast infections in our 'folds".  A good athlete's foot powder will help if that is the case.

Make sure you contact your doctor and have him document your rashes.  If you have the rashes often and can prove it's a real problem, your insurance might pay for skin removal surgery.

Before my surgery, I never really had any rashes, even though I carried my excess weight mainly in my belly.  But I definitely have had some problems with rashes afterwards.  My doctor prescribed me some Nystatin powder to use after she noticed some infection.
