RNY ers..........would you do it all over again?
I will be 5 years post op on March 30th best decision I ever made in my life I am no longer taking blood pressure medicine my cholesterol is good and I am somewhat in less pain than I had before surgery I am 5'4 and I weigh 347 pounds I have 10 miles to go although I had to have a revision and August to lose the last 40 pounds but that's okay complications and all yes I would do it again in a New York Minute
Absolutely! Yes it is hard, and their are struggles...but there are victories and you get your life back. I would much rather struggle thinner, than MO.

Absolutely! I had to have a second surgery and still I would do it again tomorrow. I also wish I had done it sooner.
I cannot believe how much better I feel and the fact that I am off of all medications and my numbers are normal is amazing to me. All of them. I was diabetic, had high cholesterol, was bordering on high blood pressure, was taking estrogen because I was so overweight that my body couldn't produce enough.
I have done things since surgery that I have NEVER done in my life - paddle boarding, jogging, etc. I feel better at 50 than I did at 30.
You need to be ready for yourself though. You have to be committed to the plan. You have to walk walk walk even if you don't feel like it.
I am very happy with my decision to have RNY. I never got close to goal, but I'm definitely MUCH healthier now than I was before the surgery. My biggest regret is not remaining active with a local weight loss support group. However, that's something I can change... it's never too late to go back to groups. I have become too lax with my eating choices and I haven't remained as physically active as I need to be... and my failure to remain careful and mindful of my choice is showing in a gradual weight gain. I have the tool and I'm not using it to my fullest advantage.
