Question about waking up after surgery.
I am in the beginning of the process for rny surgery. I go to the informational session on 4/7/16. Anyways, I just had surgery this past Wednesday on my arm and I had a VERY hard time waking up and my oxygen kept dipping down to 80% freaking them out. I was in recovery for 4-5 hours and still mostly asleep when I was discharged (out-patient surgery). I have this same scenario after every surgery I have had (4 or 5). My question is... With the rny being so invasive, will these problems cause them to deny me?
Only your Doc could answer this, but if you've had several surgeries with the same problem... It is definitely something they need to be aware of.
Have you ever been tested for sleep Apnea? I would think they would definitely make you take a sleep study and get a machine if needed.

I don't know the answer to your question but do think it's important to mention your past surgery experiences. This week, I had leg vein surgery and mentioned it takes very little to put me out. I was thanked for the information and think it was followed because I remember waking up during the procedure in agony for a brief moment then nothing until the recovery room. A bothersome thing about this surgery was not feeling the least bit nervous about the IV needle, being put out, risks, or post-pain. Feeling nervous is a good thing; I felt nothing. Talking to the medical staff about your concerns might help ease any nervousness you may have.
I would go over it again with your surgeon - the RNY is a (much) longer surgery than the sleeve, so your surgeon can help you weigh the risks and make sure that the longer surgery (more exposure to anesthesia) is worth it for you.

There is a fine line between enough and too much of anesthesia... The typically calculated that based on weight..
When I was a larger person -they typically gave me more than I body needed... And it took me forever to wake up.. Now, is much better..
