What's on your Sunday menu, RNYers?

Ugh Daylight savings time while I'm on vacation!? Seems kind of cruel.

Yesterday was tons of fun. We went on a beautiful hike through the Smokey Mountain State Park up to see a waterfall. I lead the pack running with the 10 year old boys to get to the top. So fun. Later we had the most epic bbq, you have ever seen. Truly so much food. I did great with the pork, but the brisket was too dry and I ended up having a miserable hour with a bite stuck. Ow.

Later I managed to avoid 6 hours of the heavy drinking that my family was doing. So much moonshine and whisky! There were only 2 adults who chose to say sober, and I'm happy I was one of them. I went to bed when the conversation devolved into politics--I just can't go there with most of my family! I did, however, snack on a few potato chips, eat 1/2 of a chocolate chip cookie and eat a peice of candy. Definitely my "worst" day of eating since surgery 7.5 months ago. But somehow I'm not beating myself up too badly. I won't do it again today!

B: Fit Frappe Espresso and a scrambled egg

S: almonds

L: deli meat and cheese

S: Greek yogurt

D: more grilling! Do any of you upstate NYers know bout Speedies? Half of this clan is from Binghamton and they always bring them. Yum.

It sounds like you're having a fantastic time. I'm definitely jealous about the hike and the BBQ. I'm no longer a brisket fan either. I'll be happy if I don't even see a corned beef next week. For that situation, it sounds like you made amazing food choices.

Have a great time!

I can't do brisket or corned beef anymore either. Way too dry! Hubby will have to have corned beef and cabbage somewhere else this week!

Cabbage isn't food. It's what food eats.

Good morning! Your hike sounds wonderful!

Food:

B: quick steel cut oats with protein

L: roast sirloin tip

D: roast sirloin tip w. Zucchini

S1: HB egg; S2: frozen mixed berries; S3: small banana

Cal-989, protein-103, fibre-32

Have decided to up my daily calories to 1000 to increase protein grams and allow for a mid-afternoon snack. Hope by including the planned snack I can better manage the pre-dinner hunger, which leads me to make poor choices later in the day.

Morning Team!  I feel you on the daylight savings time, but I'm so thankful that my little one felt the need to sleep in this morning.  I got 7.5 hours of sleep and I'm feeling great.  Your hike sounds like a blast!  On the brisket subject, I made corned beef last night and had no issues with it.

So, I started "running" yesterday by using the app couch to 5k.  I ran about 1/2 of the time that they asked me to, and briskly walked the rest of the way, I got about 2miles in.  This morning I woke up with sore thighs.  Ugggh, and it's raining and nasty here.  But I made myself get dressed, pulled my hood up and went out.  I decided I wouldn't run today but I'd briskly walk for as long as I could.  Well, right out of the gate I had issues.  My toes got wet before I made it to the end of my block.  It's 44 degrees here and while the rest of my body was fine, my big toes felt like they were frozen solid.  I pushed through and walked 2/3 of a mile, but I just couldn't keep going.  Then I get home and take off my shoes and realized I have a blister on the back of each of my heels, high up on my ankle,  from my shoes rubbing.  I don't understand what was different today.  I did 2 miles yesterday and didn't have any rubbing.  So now I'm sporting 2 nifty Spongebob band-aids on my heels and hoping that my regular shoes don't rub them too bad.

My brother and his family came over yesterday.  They were only 15 minutes late which to me is an acceptable amount and doesn't even fall into the late category.  They have historically been an hour or more late to functions in the past, so I call this is huge win. They have 4 daughters from 14 years old to 4 years old.  We had an awesome night, after dinner we played cards with the older kids and the 4 year old and my 2 year old ran like maniacs around the house.  They stayed until around 10pm, and it was so nice to hang out with them with no tension or issues.  I've spoken in the past about my 14 year old niece and how rude she was and how difficult it was to deal with her.  That girl has had a huge change in attitude and she was sociable and had a blast with everyone.  It makes me heart happy.

Today I'm going to "Painting with a Twist".  I've been once before and had a fun time.  I'm meeting my friend and her 14 year old daughter at Appplebee's and we'll have an early lunch and then head over for painting fun.  I'll be sure to post a picture of my painting at some point in the thread this week.

Here is my plan for the day:

B: 1 egg, 1/2oz mozzarella 1/2 a low carb tortilla.  Coffee with 2% milk and torani SF syrup.  I'm all out of half and half

L: 4oz sirloin from the kids menu, steamed veggies

D: shrimp with spaghetti sauce and Quest pasta. It's that no carb, super low calorie pasta made from only some weird fibrous stuff.  It'll likely be gross, so I'm making it on the side.  I'll post a review at some point

S: Carb master yogurt and a quest protein drink later this evening

totals:

Calories 734 protein 95 carbs 39 fat 21

I found the Carb Master yogurt at Kroger yesterday and it's awesome.  6oz is only 60 calories and 9g of protein and only 3 grams of sugar.  It's really tasty.

My favorite kitchen tool is a spiral noodle maker. It makes veggies into noodles by the way it cuts. I love zucchini noodles.
