Anyone have complications with RNY?

Just wondering if there is anyone else out there who had some complications with surgery. I suffered internal bleeding after the surgery and my blood counts dropped. I was given 2 blood transfusions and that didn't help. I am home now but my blood levels are still low. And I am always tired. Since surgery I have also been having chronic pain in my shoulder. Maybe from the gasses they use from the laproscopic surgery idk. Just wondering what everyone else's experiences are. Been a rough go for me so far.

I haven't had any complications from the surgery.  I just wanted to ask how long you have had the pain in your shoulder?  i.e. how many days?

I've had shoulder pains since day one but it hasn't gotten better it's gotten worse. Constant 8 for pain. Hurts to move my arm. They blame it of the co2 gas they use but I think it may be something more.

My surgeon told me that gas pain should only last for about 48 hours. If you still have the pain longer than that, I'd get looked at.

These first days have been a bit rough for me too.  I ended up back at the hosp. a week out from losing some blood in bowel movements, but the dr. stopped my blood thinner and I didn't need any transfusions.  I'm just now starting to feel more human.  Hang in there!

No complications. But it can take quite a while to stop feeling tired after surgery, even without complications and blood loss. It took a couple of months for me to stop needing periodic naps.

Hang in there. It gets better.

Thanks for the comments so far. I am taking things day by day. My blood levels are slowly coming up but now I may be Jaundice. My liver numbers are a bit out of whack so I've got to get a hold of the surgeon and my doctor so we can figure out what is going on with my body. If anyone else has experienced this let me know what your outcome was. Just wold like to know what to expect.

Hi

I had my RNY on March 2/16.  Came out of surgery with no pain in my stomach area, but couldn't move my shoulders without screaming in pain.  I was taken back in for an emergency operation the following morning as they determined I was bleeding internally and 2 drains were placed in me.  I also had blood transfusions, 3 pints to be exact.  My levels just wouldn't level out.  With the drains in all the pain in my shoulders left and I really had no pain after that point.  I was in the hospital for a week, but now home and moving forward.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Referral - September/14, Orientation HRRH - December 1/14, Surgeon appt. (Dr. Starr) - April 24/15, Trio appts. - July 21/15, Dr. Glazer - August 17/15, switched surgeon to Dr. Huynh Feb. 17/16, Surgery date - March 2/16-

1 year follow up - Lost 82% of my excess body fat. Starting weight 315lbs, today 151lbs.

Glad to hear you are home and pain free. The shoulder pain I had was tolerable in the hospital but seemed to get worse when I went home. My blood levels are slowly increasing of  their own. I'm hoping my body will just fight everything that's going on and get me back to normal. The doctors don't seem overly alarmed by anything and say to just listen to my body. Today has been a decent day a little tired but good
