Has anyone had RNY revision to RNY? My pouch is still small but I have a enlarged stoma with food bypassing to small intestine. Surgeon feel he can fix the issue with the same surgery cutting half of stomach off and part of small intestine and reattached. I'm concerned about slow weight loss or nothing at all. Will I have the same results as before? Bad side effects or more complications? Please help me with answer, concerns and suggestions.

Thanks

It is one of many revisions.  Any revision will result in weight loss only if you are willing to eat fewer calories than you burn.

You have to acknowledge why your stoma stretched or you will have the same thing happen with your revision.   I would go for it, if you realise it's your last resort.

Thanks for replying. The doctor think it could be from me getting pregnant or drinking soda. I think I'm going to go for it.

Thanks

Any surgery carry a risk. the more abdominal surgeries  - the larger the risk. of many possible complications including adhesions, hernia, damage to the intestines, internal nerve damage, etc etc..

I had surgery in 2001 and my original surgeon was very conservative, so my stoma was larger than what it should have been.  While I did lose 100 lbs, by two years out I had stopped losing.  I had moved back to CA in 2004 and I consulted with another surgeon who did a EGD and found my stoma to be larger than what they should be.  So, when I had my hernia repaired they also revised my stoma.  I went on to lose another 65 lbs and hit my goal.  I maintained that for several years.   Just be sure that you understand exactly what they will revise.   Revisions are more complicated and risky depending on if they are doing more to revise the bypassed intestines or just the stoma.   You should have the same results with the weight loss if your restriction is still there and you are eating properly.

Good luck.
