hi everyone! So my parents are flying in from Italy tomorrow, and they're already killing me lol Italian foodies ahhhhhh! Anyway they want to go out for Chinese tomorrow since in Italy Chinese food kind of sucks lol...soooo what do I eat? I was googling and saw beef w broccoli as a suggestion? Shrimp was another....Obviously stay away from sweet stuff... But I'm also in the semi purée/soft food stage, saw dr tuesday and he wants me to progress and have more solids slowly to get more protein since my pouch hates shakes but I need wet mushy stuff so I don't think the plain steamed chicken off the diet menu will go down. I might just eat before o avoid the headache but I really don't want to be the party pooper on their first night. Any insight appreciated!

Egg drop soup or hot and sour soup... That would be my choice...even though they may be bit carby the way they do it, still it is a safe bet for me.

I would not try Chinese solid out first time...

Even now - 8 years post op - I make my own egg drop soup when I need some light comfort soup for a small pouch day.

Thank you so much! I didn't even think of soups lol I guess I'm all soupped out , but that is def a better and safer bet...I don't eat more than 2-3 oz anyway so that's probably more likely to stay down

If it was me I'd stay away from the hot & sour soup...too spicy this soon out (my Nut told me that).  Instead, I would ask for chicken soup broth, which is exactly what I did in your exact time frame out from surgery.  You can also ask if they have cottage cheese; if so, soup first, then cottage cheese.

I would say stick to the soups for now: hot and sour or egg drop.

However, when you do get to the solid foods, asked for steamed shrimp and vegetables with no rice or sauce.

I never liked to try new foods while in public.  Something perfectly bland can just hit your stomach wrong when you're fresh post-op, and hurling in public is so unattractive.

Stick with the egg drop soup.  It's the safest thing on the menu.

Ditto egg drop soup.  Good stuff relatively speaking...

I  enjoy watching Foodies eat. Enjoy their pleasure..and bonus-it's your parents.

I would stick to hot tea and progress to soup. You are so early out.

Have fun!
