Surgery in a week!
It all seems real now.m! In a little over a week I will be having my gastric bypass and I'm pretty nervous! Nervous about the dangers of surgery and nervous about staying in the hospital for 2 days away from my kids! I have a 2 year old daughter who is definitely a Mommys girl and a 1 year old son who I will miss! Sounds silly but I don't leave my kids over night and I'm nervous that my daughter will be a big mess. Funny.. Having surgery and my main concern is how my kids will react! In the long run though I am doing this so I don't have to leave them prematurely at some point!
I was super nervous about the post op diet at first but I am thinking it will be fine! All in all I am ready for the day to get here so I can start this big change and be there for my family.
Any tips for success? I will need all I can get! :)
So exciting! I know how you feel about leaving your kids. I have a 2 year old as well, and that was only the 2nd time I'd been away from him overnight. The first was when I had my sleep study prior to surgery. He's stayed overnight with grandma since then, but it was really hard and really scary at the time.
he did fine, and while he was glad to see me when I got home, kids are much more resiliant them we think. Yours may miss you for a little while, but you'll be home quickly and on to a healthier lifestyle.
Good luck and make sure to stick around!
A hey, don't worry about the surgery. It's so common now, they do so so many that's it's just a routine for them so don't worry about that. Your gonna do fine and will be so happy that you did it. I'm three years out and it's going great. And you won't believe how fast time goes bye and how thin you got?
Hi! I also have a two yr old daughter and had the same fears...although I missed her I found I really got some of the best rest LOL, and it's over before you know it! She was fine with her dad contrary to what I thought...they are more takeout than I allow in a month...but they survived lol kids are very perceptive just explain mommy has boo boos you have to be careful...my daughter took it very well and wants to take care of me like I'm a baby .
post op diet will be fine, you won't have the time or hunger to care about it at that point.
walk walk walk sip sip sip repeat
good luck!
Luckily my kids have an awesome daddy who will step in and do it all while I'm out of commission. I was fighting with myself on whether or not I should have my oldest (2) visit me in the hospital but I think she would be more upset if she saw me. All anxiety aside I am excited! Thank you for the encouraging words!
Me too! Surgery is on March 21st for me... I had to start the pre/post- op diet a week ago and have one more to go before the big day! I cannot lie, it's very difficult for me. I'm day dreaming about my favorite foods all day and night at this point. I'm hoping to stay busy this coming week and that it flys by! Good luck to you! :-)
I hate the anxiety leading up to it! I didn't have to do a diet after insurance approval just clear liquids the day before surgery and I'm pretty sure I'm going to starve all day! Lol I'll be at work so I'll have to lock myself in my office and stay super busy!
Good luck to you! I will let you know how it goes after Friday!
