Good morning everyone.  It is supposed to be a windy and rainy day here in Portland.  I must admit, I love crazy weather, but I am getting my hair done this afternoon and I predict the blow out will last two minutes after I leave the salon.  Oh well, it is the color refresh that is the important part.

The QOTD could not have come at a better time.  I am leaving for Hawaii in a week, and need to load up my iPad with books.  I just downloaded The Girl on The Train on your recommendations.  I am currently reading The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.  I read the first two books awhile ago, but for some reason it took me awhile to pick up the third one.  I just finished Before And After by Susan Maria Leach (meh) and The Paris Winter is up next.  Then it is The Night Circus.  It is not unusual for me to read two or three books at the same time.

Time Since Surgery:16 months

B:  Egg Beaters, lite mozzarella and bacon omelette

S:  Yoplait Greek 100 - Blackberry Pie

L:  3 oz prawns and 1/4 cup orzo

S:  Lite String Cheese

D:  4 oz chicken thigh

Totals:  Calories 625, Carbs 42, fat 26, protein 69.

I will probably add a protein snack to this menu to up the calories and protein.  Have a great day everyone!

oooh, I have read The Night Circus and really liked it.  It's different than what I normally read, but it jumped out at me a few years ago so I picked it up on my kindle.

In a hurry as usual, and I have only read half the posts.  I want to come back and see all the book recommendations.

In our neighborhood book group, we just read, "The Man Who Loved Books too Much."  It had a lot of good discussion points, and was interesting, but not my favorite.

Before that, we read "The Whispering City, by Sara Moliner, a murder mystery set in Spain in the Franco regime.  Wonderful book.  Lots of fun.

My menu for today:

B:  scrambled egg with ham and cheddar.  1.5" of banana

L:  Pork chile verde with cabbage

D:  Not sure on this one, probably sausage, spinach, and tomato soup with parmesan

S:  The usual options, as needed:  Fage yogurt, Kirkland cashew bites.  Also, I want to plan for 2 Dove dark chocolate eggs today.

A murder mystery set in Spain under the Franco regime? Unique.

This breaking news just in . . . Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

Good morning!  My appt. with my surgeon went well yesterday.  We now have a plan (that at this point doesn't involve revising to bypass) in place to combat my ever increasing GERD.  Hopefully the California Dept. of Insurance will agree with my plan and force my insurance company to pay for it.  If not, I guess I'll be adding to my surgeon's son's college fund!  My last book . . . Troublemaker by Leah Remini.  I was in a book club, but our meetings kind of tapered off.  If we were still meeting, I'd have a more "serious" literature book.  We're watching the last Top Chef Last Chance Kitchen at the end of the day and have snacks planned.  I brought cantaloupe and prosciutto, but don't know what else is on the menu so my plan today has some holes and I'm having a "hungry" day so control is going to be key.  Here's my plan:

B: ground turkey and cheese

L: Grilled chicken and mixed veggies

D: Roasted chicken thighs and caesar salad (hmmm . . . this menu is very poultry heavy)

S: Cantaloupe and prosciutto, light and fit

Since I don't know what's on the snack menu, I'll add totals later but I'm guessing calories will be under 1000 and protein will be close to 100g
