My RNY was 1March. Turned into an open procedure :( cut from breast bone to belly button. Blood pressure crashed after surgery, took 2 days to finally get me stabalized. 6 days in the hospital and then a 7 hour car ride home! CRAZY

The important stuff... I am here! finally home! incontenence from the catheter has finally stopped. Have progressed to full liquids with a few other foods.

Not hungry! Having a hard time getting my food in. :( soooo tired! no energy

So GLAD to be on this side and join the losers bench!

That is an amazing story. I remember you posted before you left. WOW! I could not imagine riding in a car for 7 hours, cut from breast bone to belly button. You are one tough lady.

That is to be commended. I stand in awe! I'd wish you good luck, but frankly some people deserve having the best luck.

That's amazing! So glad your ok. Hopefully your able to get some protein in. I also went on ebay and found vitamin patches, they are helping me alot since it's hard for me to swallow so many pills every morning. Hopefully you can find some too! that may help with your energy.

Remember, take it day by day!!! That's the best advice a fellow RNYer gave me and I follow it everyday. Good luck!!!

Welcome Home and welcome to better days ahead of you.  As long as you stay hydrated, getting food should be able to stay slow to go.  Sugar-free popsicles and jello counted toward my 64 ounces of fluid daily requirements.  I took two long naps a day for about three weeks straight with walking around the house my only form of activity for preventing leg clot formation.  When you feel better, please share details why you won the prize for an open-RNY.

I had an open adrenealectomy in 1999. They cut from a few inches from my belly button all the way around to my spine. To remove an adrenal gland and tumor attattched to to it.

My RNY Dr was worried about adhesions from that surgery. So he chose to do it open and said once he was inside he was very glad he made that choice...

Welcome home.  I had a rough start too and now 1.5 years later it is a distant memory.  Every day gets a little better.  Keep walking and sipping and get good rest.  Hang in there!
