RNY was a week ago.  I'm hungry.  I had 1/2 c. pureed tuna for lunch - my first real food (measured before the puree part).  It was delicious.  I got a feeling of hunger while making it up and then had to poop - I've had the runs since.  I suppose that's a good thing considering this is all so new.  I'm still so sore and getting tired of being so tired and low energy.  This day is going so slowly.  Hubby had to go off to see a client, so I'm home alone - well with the dog and 2 cats until the kidlet gets home in about an hour.  I haven't gotten on the scale lately, but I suspect I haven't lost anything yet.  I should be grateful for the small things - the incontinence from the catheter has stopped.  YEA - so I'm not peeing on everything.  It's a beautiful day outside and it's nice to have the doors open.  My dr. ordered a physical therapist to the house, she's coming tomorrow.  I have no idea what she's going to want me to do!  I'll have the rest of the tuna for dinner.

Please feel free to join in with your own rants and needs for a bit of pity.

I am not going to get on the pity party train today. Some days I do. I have to say it will get easier. In the beginning you think what the heck did I do.

It does get easier.

Feel better.

It's probably not hunger, but thirst. Can you drink some decaf hot tea?

Early out it will be hard for you to eat 1/2 cup of something.

did you mix it with something- or was it just tuna?

I mixed it with some greek yogurt and a little water and onion powder.  It seemed to go down fine.

It will get better....that much is for sure.

youre already eating more than I was at your stage.  I lived on soups and greek yogurt (i still pretty much live in greek yogurt, to be honest).

Good luck.  Hang in there.

Hang in there! I stayed on liquids for two weeks after, soup was my best friend with a little added protein powder and some mashed potatoes. I can't tell you the joy I had when I had my first poached egg ... it was like heaven. Drink your water and get your protein in, you will get there and sometimes your body just has to find it's own way.  Good luck tomorrow with the physical therapist.

Hi Heavens2Betsy,

Good for you for being grateful for the small things, the beautiful day, etc.  I am 2+ weeks from surgery and just started the pureed phase today.  I don't really have anything to complain about, but I do feel hungry, too.  I've found drinking some decaf coffee (or tea) in between meals can help make me feel like I'm getting more to eat.  Hang in there!

This is the hardest part I promise. Your body is trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The energy will come back plus more as the weight comes off. I used to be exhausted doing laundry but now I can do my household chores, work in the garden, exercise for 11/2 hours and still have energy to spare! Just take a big breath and relax and realize that before you know it this will be the new normal and you will feel like a new and better mom and wife. Your kidlet is going to love the new more active you! And in the mean time, feel free to come here to complain because we understand and have been there too!
