Calling all vets for some food advice
Thank you that's exactly why I posted...my plan seems very carb and fruit heavy...all this purée banana, canned peaches, grits...ummm just reading it is making me bloat lol oh and mashed potatoes is in all the sample meals lol don't get me wrong I loveeeeeed mashed potatoes pre op just ask my scale, just doesn't seem to be weight loss friendly...
The only thing I would add is stay clear of "lite", "fat-free" and "low-fat" labeled foods, like the lite mayo and ff sour cream. They often add fillers and sugar to make up for the removal of fat. Get the real versions instead.
Fat doesn't make you fat... if it did, I'd be a stick from all the low-fat diets I tried over the years and I wouldn't have needed surgery... healthy fats in moderation are helpful for weight loss.

Really?! And you aren't the first to say go full fat, I was reading egg face blog and saw the same....I think we have all been through so much dieting and low fat this and no sugar this and carb free that it's so drilled.... I'm going to use what I have at this point because I can't afford to throw it out and start over lol, but ill definitely buy the real stuff next grocery trip....after all I'm only eating 2oz it better be tasty!
Healthy fats in moderation are a mainstay of my diet... and at 4.5 years after surgery, it's obviously working for me. On the other hand, I also limit myself to about 50 g carbs a day in the winter, and around 100g in the summer (when I am biking)... which also helps I'm sure. I don't count calories much, but others find it necessary to do so... find what works for you and do it.
Gotta make those padded bike shorts look as swexy (sweaty/sexy) as possible :)
