Calling all vets for some food advice

so I have been stalking all posts on here and I see most vets say to steer clear of carbs, fruits, etc...and then I look at my book and it's the opposite...here's the deal though, I want to lose 100% not 60% or whatever they recommend so I'd rather hear from those of you who have done it and are doing it. I'm only 2 weeks out and I want to develop those habits now instead of eating crap then having to cut it later....so I am on purée now, and here is a sample of what I ate today: bf: cottage cheese I think it's about 3 oz it was the one w fruit on the side but I didn't eat the fruit, snack: a laughing cow triangle, lunch 2oz beef stew purée (I tried to put mostly beef and veggies but I'm sure one or 2 potatoes may have slipped in, dinner: 2oz hummus and pork rinds but I was only able to eat about half, and I just had a laughing cow snack. Does this look ok for 2 weeks out? Are there any things I should do different?

I also bought retried beans, salsa, ff sour cream, beans to make a soup, chicken, tuna, turkey spam, turkey sausage, ricotta, shredded cheese, marinara, and lite mayo oh and eggs and hummus from my list. I did not buy the purée fruits, oatmeal/grits, and other stuff on my list...

what do you guys think, does it matter this early out? Do you eat fruits? Am I on the right track? Am I way off? Eating too much/not enough?

Should have added I have 100lbs more to lose. And also my pouch hates protein shakes, I ordered unflavored to sprinkle on food and should arrive soon, so that's where I am with that in case you were wondering what's up with that...my dr said he's not worried yet about that since I'm only 2 weeks out

You are on the right track.  Be sure to go to The World According to Eggface site and make her ricotta bake.  It was my staple early out (that is if you like lasagna).  It is still a staple for me eight years later.

I did thank you that's what the ricotta, shredded cheese and marinara are for lol I was going to make it today but my daughter was off the walls (she's 2) so after cooking for her and my hubby I was exhausted and settled for hummus lol.

I call it WLS Lasagna - saved me for months 1-3 - cottage cheese, spag sauce, sprinkle of cheese.  I nuked it. Added some chicken later.  I never really cooked anything for the first 3 months - only nuked stuff (I did poach some fish a few times -- but too much trouble).   I ate the same few things that I liked for the first while - I still watch calories and sodium (so I would not be having refried beans or pork rinds - both of which is never liked, so I did not start eating them now.)

Good luck, Exercise - even if just increasing your mobility will also help)

At 2 weeks out I would not recommend eating anything that isn't protein, especially if you aren't drinking protein shakes. Your pouch is too small to be adding fruit or other carbs. The thing with carbs for me was the more I had, the more I wanted.

I LOVE your attitude of wanting to lose 100% of your excess weigh! I shot for that too and achieved it!! I'm 8 years out now and maintaining that 100% weight loss.

Have you tried Syntax Nectar protein shakes? They were the only ones that I liked, especially the Cappuccino made with ice and milk. It tasted like a coffee frappe and I like it so much that I still make them!

Thank you, yes I did not just get cut up and have my guts rearranged just to go halfway!

ill try the syntax, my nutritionist recommend 25gr proteins and up so that wasn't on my list, but at this point 10is better than none...

I don't know why they give the nutrition of the Syntax for 1/4 of a scoop when you use a full scoop making it . A full scoop is 24g of protein.

Thanks for letting me know! That's silly, I'm sure many overlook it because of that.

My plan called for pasta at 2 weeks out.  I was happy to have found this site right before surgery.  I listened to the vets here and lost 100% excess weight in less than a year.  I didn't have fruit for at least 6 months and when I do it's usually a banana/yogurt after a long run. I definitely stayed away from oatmeal, grits, and pureed fruits.
