Exactly. I didn't work hard and go through all of this to still be overweight. Would I be ok being this weight if my body naturally stopped here, yes. But, I am not going to force my body. If I get to a point where it poses a threat to my health or I'm struggling to maintain the lower weight then I will re-evaluate. I'm only a half inch taller than you Laura. And, I am by no means emaciated at this point.

If she says anything again, say "I'm working witn the dietician on it." I wouldn't even try to explain myself.

I agree that you are not finished losing.  First of all, I thought I was finished when I got to my goal weight, but I lost an additional 15 lbs, I have gained some of that back, so I'm glad I surpassed it.  Secondly, the people I know who took this journey before me, of those who had not reached their goal regained....a lot, if not all of their weight back.  It perhaps is a psychological thing, but I would recommend getting to your goal weight at least and then reevaluating.

HI!

I don't know yours stats (i.e. heighth/ bmi).

Just remember success for your surgeons office is you losing 80% of your excess weight. Not 100%. Not getting down to a normal ideal weight. 80% of excess is all THEY need to be successful.

I have a feeling that the bar yourself is being in the "normal"/healthy weight range. You should continue to strive for it.

As far as the NP..chances are she is telling you that you have "made it" is because she is opperating off of the 80% excess weight bench mark.

I'm 5'7.5, 32, and currently weigh 168. What I found odd is that she moved my surgeons goal down from 164 to 160 at my 6 month appointment and now 3 months later she is telling me to stop. I just wish there was more consistency at the office.

You need to go by percent of body fat.  Figure how much excess skin you have.  Make sure you have plotted it correctly.  As per my bariatric surgeon (s), as long as you don't go below 2% body fat you are OK...  Your NP may want to see more toning and muscle build up...But you seem to be OK.  As you get near goal you will want to add more "the color of the rainbow" in vegetables and small amounts of fruits for nutrients...

I will keep that in mind. I told her I have started working on toning/strength training. I still have quite a bit of fat in several places so I don't think I'm at 2% body fat.
