Sometimes I hate seeing more than one person at my surgeons office. NP said I needed to stop losing weight and she had me to meet with the dietician to increase my calories. See the dietician and she's on my side that I still have weight to lose. No, I'm not increasing anything. I am still overweight! And I haven't even met the goal she gave me in the first place. In fairness I'm only 8 lbs away from that. I think I'm just more annoyed bc she is the one who lowered my goal from 164 to 160 in the first place. I'm only 10 months out, I am not done losing for sure.
Good for you. While it's not inevitable, most people do gain some from their lowest weight. Lose some more and get some wiggle room.

That's exactly what the dietician said. I don't think the np really dealt with bariatric patients before this office. But, that is the dieticians area. So, she said she would be fine if I got down to 145 to see where I felt comfortable. I haven't been a normal weight in my adult like. So, I don't have a reference point like most people who can say "I want to be college weight." I don't know where I'll be happiest yet. I think I should lose the other 20 lbs and see where along the way I felt best.
It varies. A lot. I would say most people hit their low weight for about 24 hours, and then settle in at 5 or 10 pounds above that. I don't really consider a few pounds over low weight to be bounceback, but just settling in.
Real bounceback happens a year or so after you're done losing. I've seen a few never gain at all -- it isn't written in stone, if you're vigilant. Many gain 10, 20, 30, 50, or more. It's all up to you.

The funny thing is, my primary is an NP. And I LOVE her. She was the one who diagnosed me with PCOS when all the doctors said my issues were bc I was overweight. She was also a big supporter of my RNY. I just think this one has not worked with bariatric patients long enough. From what everyone else has ever told me was lose as much as you can in case of regain. The dietician has seen it all, and knows what can happen.
That is ridiculous. Of all the people I know in real life who were originally over 300, not many have kept off their weight. Keep losing until you reach your goal and then fight like hell to stay there. My BMI is 21. I like being lean, especially as I get older. It is much easier on my joints.
