Questions about reactive hypoglycemia
Plus...you avoided the "fake foods": the protein shakes, the protein bars, etc... Once I was ready to listen, and ditched them- I was doing so much better.

Right? I have bad RH too if I don't balance the protein with fat. My husband thinks I'm off my rocker...but greek yogurt, blueberries and granola will put me into a massive sugar crash...so I do greek yogurt, blueberries and almonds.

Took me years to learn what RH was. I remember having a glucose tolerance and the symptoms afterwards were horrible... I was driving home from the hospital scared that I would pass out. I'll never have one again. Is amazing to me that not one of my doctors picked up on the 3 hour blood sugar reading of 50 as anything to be concerned about.
Over the years of paying close attention to my foods and symptoms, I can tell when I'm going to have RH symptoms... by how fast my heart beats right after eating. If I eat a super carb-y food - even with protein - my heart will pound like it's coming out of my chest. Alcohol does this too.
Also learned over the years about the importance of fat and hydration. I'm still learning the hydration lesson (over and over again).
Good morning, I would have RH if I had a protein shake, I figured out it was due to the whey in the mix....no bueno and I also try to combine a protein/fat.....always....cheese with nuts as a snack -in moderation of course. Im over 10 years out, and still have to be very careful of the foods I eat....my motto is real food, proteins, veggies and very little carbs.
