What's on Your (photo) Friday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning AngryViking and the Menu Crew. I had a **** night last night. My MIL, who is awesome beyond words for the free daycare she provides, didn't get the baby to nap yesterday. My husband is out of town until this evening, and my 2 year old fell asleep around 6:15. I tried desperately to wake him up at 7:15 by sticking a chicken nugget in his mouth. He woke up for about 20 minutes to groggily eat a couple pieces of chicken, and then he curled back up and fell asleep. He woke up at 2:30am on the nose. I left him in his bed for nearly an hour before going in to him; I wasn't sleeping anyway since I could hear him. I brought him into my bed, hoping he would sleep and that didn't work either so we went down and cuddled on the couch. He never fell back asleep before going back to grandma's this morning. I'm at work, but I may try to cut out early, depending on how bad it gets here today. I had a rough time last night, I had to miss parent teacher conference for my oldest, and I'm really upset with him because I checked his grades and he is failing 4 of his 6 classes. I'm so frustrated with him right now. I tried to talk to him, and to do it in a way that wouldn't put him on the defensive, but he's 16 and I don't know what to do with this kid. He's smart, though he has dyslexia and still struggles with it a little. I'm a bit overwhelmed because my husband has been travelling so much, so I texted him about how depressed I felt. We're going to talk this weekend to see if there is anything we can do to lighten my load a bit. It feels like I'm having a breakdown about once a week where I'm just overwhelmed and can't take it anymore. For about 6 days out of the week I am fine, but then I have 1 really bad day. I see my therapist next week, I'll see if she has any recommendations. She has a PhD, but I don't know if she is able to prescribe anything. If not, I'm going to go to see my PCP and ask him what he thinks about something to help me cope. Most of the time I'm awesome, but it's that one day that really brings me down.
On a better note, the scale moved again this morning, so that makes me happy. I know I'm doing something right when I'm still seeing movement. My plan for the day is just okay because I was in a fugue state this morning and didn't make breakfast, then grabbed a power crunch bar for snack.
KQOTD: I have one bag of clothes for donation in my trunk, and that's all. Now, don't ask about my back seat, I have a ton of stuff thrown back there.
Today is my 7 month surgiversary!
B: 1 turkey sausage, ½ egg patty, ½ cheese on ½ a low carb tortilla. I forgot to make breakfast so I ordered turkey sausage, egg and cheese with no bread from Tim Horton's and put it on a tortilla I had extra in my lunch bag. I ate the whole sausage, only ½ of the egg and cheese.
L: Crab delights with 1T of plain greek yogurt on ½ a low carb tortilla
D: Shrimp ****tail (I reserve the right to change my mind, hubby is coming home, but I'm so tired that I am just playing a fend for yourself night)
S: Power Crunch Chocolate Mint, light and fit greek peach.
Totals:
Calories 903 Protein 88 carbs 59 fat 37
I love the crab delights but for some reason they have high carbs. I think I am going to skip them from now on because if I had tuna instead of the crab my numbers would be much better.
Instead of posting a picture, I'm posting a link to youtube. I took this video yesterday morning of my 2 year old. If you're able, take a peek. He's being all cute and even sings a song.
Sorry you are having such a hard time. I have a friend who struggled with her son's grades at that age. She turned him around by a) hiring a tutor, and b) implementing consequences until he brought his grades up (no phone, no computer, etc.). His issue was mostly around organization. He would do the work, but then fail to turn it in.
Also, if your therapist is a psychologist (PhD) then he/she cannot prescribe. Only MDs (psychiatrists) can.

I think the inability to remember to turn in homework is a teenage boy thing. I have heard the same thing over and over about boys that age from my friends. Their brains must be totally occupied thinking of other things........

Morning AV & Crew!
What in teh trunk of my car? I know there is a bag full of crumbled wrapping papers/newspapers etc from Christmas 2014 that the kids were using as a target for their bow & arrow shooting. There's a sheet for when the dog travels in the car with us, croc flip flops (just in case of a sunny day weather emergency LOL). And some clothes that need to be donated (and I to pass the donation paces a zillion times in a week but never remember to stop). A snow brush (that I had to use today--grrr!)... And i have a hidden compartment-- I have clue what in there since it become a forgotten zone.
Weekend- I'll be working again tomorrow but hoping to not stay as long. Today's pic is in honor of my son- he turned 13 yesterday:
