Recent RNYers- 1 night or 2 night hospital stay?

I had surgery weds and was discharged Thursday.  One man in my ward had been there two nights due to his weight and age.  They wanted to monitor him a bit more.

RNY - standard is usually 2 days.  For me specifically - my surgery started at 8am and by 8pm I still had not peed.  They ultrasounded my bladder, which was empty and they really pushed the IV saline.  10pm I peed.  (I feel I was dehydrated at beginning of surgery).

RNY is a longer surgery - 2 hours vs 45 min for the sleeve.  Longer surgery, longer to get over anesthesia.  I was not fucntioning well - congrats to any RNY patients that got out the next day.  There are also things that you must do before they can discharge you - peeing post-op is one of them.  You can also talk to your dr about discharge criteria.
