I HAD RNY SURGERY 8 YEARS AGO WITH ZERO SIDE EFFECTS AND GREAT RESULTS.  MY DAUGHTER HAD RNY SURGERY THE FIRST WEEK IN JANUARY AND IS HAVING A TERRIBLE TIME.  SHE IS CONSTANTLY DRY HEAVING AFTER EATING SMALL PORTIONS OF SEEMINGLY ANYTHING AND IS ROUTINELY DIZZY / NAUSEATED.  THIS IS KILLING ME BECAUSE I WAS THE ONE WHO TOLD HER THAT THE SURGERY WAS SO BENEFICIAL.  ANY HELP PEOPLE CAN OFFER TO HELP HER GET FOOD DOWN AND IN TO HELP BUILD UP HER STRENGTH WOULD BE SO MUCH APPRECIATED !!!

She could be dehydrated.  I would say get her drinking at least 64oz of water a day, get her on a PPI if she is not already, and protein shakes until she feels well enough to handle solid foods.

Has she been to her surgeon with her issues?

After checking in with her doctor I would suggest that she continue with an acid inhibitor (PPI) and that she drink more fluids to stay hydrated.  I found early out that warmer things went down better than cold.  Broth, tea, etc.  And Flavored water to this day go down better than plain water.  Hope she is feeling better soon - this to should pass once the swelling goes down.  She might also have a stricture which is very common but her doctor should be able to sort that out quickly.

Please involve the medical team to help rule out two common culprits:  dehydration and/or a stricture; they seem to go together sometimes.  Good news-- they are fixable.  Try not to take on the burden of blame because, like you said, you had great results.

as the above poster said, contact the medical team.  Could be a stricture (I had two of them - one at two months out and a second at three months out).  They're an easy fix.
