RNY newbie
It's not just you. I had my surgery on the 16th and feel the exact same way. Even when I see the scale moving down, I feel like it's broken. I do what the Doctor says to do, and I still feel like I am not doing good enough. I walk on the treadmill everyday, and I feel like it's not enough. I have noticed since I have been home, that my anxiety is getting the best of me. I am used to working full time carrying mail, and if I am not walking ten miles a day, I feel like I am lazy. I am not used to being home, and the time by myself is making me question my decisions. I go to my two week post op visit tomorrow, and support group tomorrow night. Thank God. My husband is probably tired of me fretting. Just know you aren't alone. I am climbing the walls worried about what I am doing too.
It's crazy isn't it...I eat and think omg am I stretching my pouch? Lol with what yogurt and liquids lol but I feel I question the very thing...hope your appt and group helped...mine is Tuesday....
Hi! Congrats on the rny and the big change coming! I was exactly the same way. I still hiccup once now when I am full. My kids now say...your full mom and laugh lol.
When I went onto liquids after surgery I bought a lot of different flavors of MIO...still use it in my water and helps with those times my head tells me I may want to try a sweet. I sip on my water and the feeling is gone.
I started on tomato soup with milk and added a scoup of protein powder to it. I was worried about the calorie sugar content but the dietitian told me not to worry about it as I wasnt having more than a 1/4 to a half cup with milk anyway. The milk add protein too. I had cream of wheat with a little milk, hated sugar free puddings but loved vanilla yogurt and sugar free popcycles. Homemade broths were like mana from heaven and of course protein drinks.
My taste buds were off and I too found a lot just too sweet...just take your time and get your fluids in...aim for 60 but I couldnt get that much in right away it took a few weeks...but my job all day while recovering was to sip sip sip lol...and before you know it your at the 3 month mark and dropped a nice bit and feeling good! All the best!!!

Hi! And thank you.... Glad to find a fellow hiccuper lol
im going to try mio...but I'm finding the same as you a lot of things are too sweet I think the artificialness of it doesn't help either....
lm trying with the liquids...I'm doing ok with water but the shakes won't go down...my dr said not to worry yet...
i started on yogurt and tomato soup this week...yogurt is helping me get a little protein. And I try what you said w soup...but haven't got my unflavored powder in the mail yet.
its weird now I'm constantly anxious that I'm eating too much and I'll stretch my pouch lol...funny where was this worry when my stomach was huge lol. Now I eat a little and worry omg was that too much lol
i can't wait to see some numbers drop and gain some confidence that I'm NOT messing this all up!
Do you ever see the scale and you believe it's broken because it's dropping? I make my family get on to prove it's still working. I lost 12 pounds in the two weeks since surgery. That is a total of 40 since I started seeing a nutritionist to start this journey. I was advanced to the puree diet and I made home chili that I put in a blender. So nice to taste other things again. I am so glad you are all here on this journey with me. Makes it so much better.
Yessss I weighed myself tues and was down 9lbs since surgery, only one week out, I can't believe it, that's 21 lbs total for me!
How did the chili taste when you bended it? I'm looking forward to "real food" but unsure if blended the taste will be kind of gross.
It was great. It kind of looked like pintos and cheese when I blended it. Even with the blended texture, it was really good. Pintos and cheese from taco bell has 11 grams of protein (believe it or not). Not that I would eat that all the time, but it's a nice change of pace if you are getting sick of not eating with the family.
